The second installment was released on Netflix on April 19, 2024, following a limited theatrical release a week before. However, the film has received mostly negative reviews from critics much like its predecessor.
On Reddit, some viewers discussed the film on the r/SnyderCut subreddit, sharing their feelings about the second installment. Unlike the critical reception, the subreddit features positive comments from most viewers who seemingly enjoyed the movie. One user wrote the following about the film:
“I thought the movie was good. It was simple and easy to follow. The action was amazing from start to finish.”
The user also added they were confused by the hate aimed at the second installment. After the initial comment, viewers came out with more supportive words for the movie. One user stated, “I enjoyed it. Good action. I think the visuals were cool. Not every sci-fi movie has to be a masterpiece.”

The film currently holds an approval rating of 18% on Rotten Tomatoes. At the same time, the second installment has an audience score of 47% on the reviews aggregator website.
The film’s approval rating is even lower than that of Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire, which currently has a 22% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Previously, the first installment had the lowest-ever score for a Zack Snyder film on the website. However, the poor reviews of the second installment mean that it has now become Snyder’s lowest-rated film on Rotten Tomatoes.
Despite the poor critical reception, Snyder seems to have ambitious plans for the franchise. The director recently stated that he planned to make six more entries in the space opera film series. However, the poor reception of Rebel Moon – Part Two could mean that Snyder’s planned sequels never come to fruition.
