The Game Awards, the last major gaming event of the year is all set to take place on December 7, 2023, and has announced that the nominees will be announced coming week on Monday, November 13 including the Game of the Year.
The Game Awards is the most prestigious awards ceremony in the video game industry and is regarded as The Oscars but for gaming. The tickets for the event are also now available for sale for those who wish to attend in person.
Game of the Year Nominees Will Be Announced Next Week
The Game Awards shared on its X/Twitter handle that the nominees will be shared next week on Monday, November 13 including the highly anticipated Game of the Year. Geoff Keighley will announce the nominees in more than 30 categories via a global livestream. Keighley followed with a tweet announcing the same and stated:

While it was usually easy to guess what game could grab the coveted award, this year it’s not going to be easy. There have been several commendable game releases in 2023 and although gamers might have already decided what’s their Game of the Year, it’d be interesting where the official award goes.
Some of the biggest and most highly anticipated games have been released this year such as Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and PlayStation exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, among others. Other heavy-weight titles that have been released this year include Baldur’s Gate 3, and recently released Alan Wake 2, and titles like Armored Core 6 and Neowiz’s Lies Of P also can not be overlooked as potential contenders for the award.
Remedy’s Alan Wake 2 has seen fantastic response from fans and critics alike and the majority believe that not only will the game be The Game of the Year but will also grab other major awards. Fans also think that games like Sea Of Stars, and Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros Wonder are also likely to be nominated for Game of the Year.
It is also likely that there will be some reveals and trailers for new and upcoming games and other industry-related announcements at the event as they have been in the past such as Xbox Series X was revealed at The Game Awards 2019. Last year’s awards saw celebrities from games, music, and the film industry and the event garnered 103 million livestreams around the globe, making The Game Awards 2022 one of the biggest livestreams.
This year’s The Game Awards is in its 10th year and will be available to stream on over 30 video platforms for free including Twitch, YouTube, Steam, X/Twitter, and others. The event will also feature live musical performances by The Game Awards Orchestra led by award-winning conductor, Lorne Balfe.
The Game of the Year 2022 award went to From Software’s Elden Ring and it was kind of an easy choice but it’s gonna be a cutthroat fight this year. The tickets for The Game Awards are also now available on sale for those who want to experience the event in person. This year’s event will take place at the Peacock Theater (formerly Microsoft Theater) in Los Angeles and the ticket price ranges from $81 to $181.
This year has been stacked with amazing game releases and some are even calling 2023 as one of the best years ever for the gaming industry. Titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Zelda are likely to be the frontrunners at the event with one of these most probably taking the Game of the Year awards.
