While filming the new Amazon crime thriller Play Dirty in Sydney, Australia, Mark Wahlberg is experiencing the glitz and glam of a big-budget film. However, despite the luxury of his Australian stay, he finds himself yearning for the comfort of his loved ones back home.
His temporary residence is a staggering $100 million mansion boasting every amenity imaginable, from a private deep-water jetty to a state-of-the-art home cinema.
Yet, despite the breathtaking harbor views and undeniable comfort, the A-lister has recently revealed there’s one aspect of his Australian sojourn that even such an opulent property can’t provide: Family!
Mark Wahlberg Grapples with Homesickness Despite Luxurious Lifestyle
Mark Wahlberg is currently staying in a big mansion in Sydney’s fanciest neighborhood. The three-story architectural marvel boasting five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and parking for seven vehicles. Sits in Point Piper, the mansion offers breathtaking views of the iconic harbor.
For entertainment, there’s a gas-heated pool, a home cinema, and a fully equipped gym. Interestingly, the property holds the record for Australia’s most expensive home.
As reported by the realestate.com, the mansion was sold for $30 million in 2007 before reaching its current valuation during a 2020 sale. Marky Mark admitted to The Daily Telegraph that despite the comfort and luxury of the mansion, there’s a big downside to his Australian stay. He said:
“I’m not the owner of the house, but it’s been cool. The only difficult part is that I’m so far away from my family.”
The Hollywood star values family time and feels the sting of being separated from his family, which includes his wife, Rhea Durham, and four children (sons, Michael and Brendan, and daughters, Ella and Grace).
Despite the distance from his loved ones, Wahlberg is dedicated to his work. Hello! magazine reported that he was seen filming action scenes at the Bankstown City Paceway, involving jockeys, racehorses, and firearms.
What We Know About Mark Wahlberg’s Upcoming Movie Play Dirty
Play Dirty is an adaptation of the hard-boiled crime novels featuring the character Parker, written by Donald E. Westlake. Directed by Shane Black (known for his work on films like The Nice Guys) Mark Wahlberg stars as Parker, a thief known for planning and ruthlessness.
Alita: Battle Angel star Rosa Salazar is also set to star alongside Wahlberg and Lakeith Stanfield. Per Screen Rant, there are hopes that the film might launch a new Parker franchise, though there have been previous adaptations including a 2013 film starring Jason Statham.
Specific plot details are under wraps, but the story follows Parker as he teams up with another character, Grofield (played by Stanfield) for a heist.
They reportedly end up facing the mob, a dictator, and even the world’s richest man. There is no release date set for the movie, but its production is underway, with filming locations including Australia.
Besides Play Dirty, Monk D has several upcoming projects in the pipeline, but here are two of the most anticipated ones: Arthur the King and Our Man from Jersey. Wahlberg is also involved in other projects, such as The Six Billion Dollar Man (as a producer) and an untitled project from his company, Unrealistic Ideas (as a producer).
