While the recent Madame Web introduced Spider-Women in live-action, another Marvel character who has yet to get a live-action depiction is Miles Morales. The character is a fan favorite and has already starred in Sony’s Spider-verse films. In the MCU, the character has been acknowledged, with Donald Glover’s Aaron Davis mentioning him in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
While Miles Morale is yet to be cast in the MCU, Black-ish actor Miles Brown seems to be the perfect fit. The nineteen-year-old actor and rapper has the same first name and has similar Black and Latino parentage. He has been vocal about his dream of playing the character in the MCU and has also met Tom Holland and Kevin Feige on the red carpet for Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Miles Brown Dreamed To Play Miles Morales
Ever since the character of Miles Morales has gained traction among fans, many actors have been considered to play the role in live-action in the MCU. Donald Glover was an initial choice, especially when he was a young actor gaining fame due to his feature in Community. The actor-rapper also wore a Spider-Man outfit in an episode of Community, furthering the rumors.
While Glover was eventually cast as Aaron Davis a.k.a The Prowler, his presence acknowledged the existence of Miles Morales in the MCU. While actors such as Jharrel Jerome, Caleb McLaughlin, and Asante Blackk were fan-cast as Miles, one actor stood out for being the perfect representation of the character.
Miles Brown, who played the role of Jack Johnson in the ABC sitcom Black-ish, has been campaigning hard to be cast as Miles Morales in the MCU. He has expressed his desire to play the role multiple times and has even said that it was his dream to play the role. He said on The Ellen Show,
“I think it’s one of the biggest goals that I have when it comes to the acting industry…I love Marvel and I love what Sony is doing with them. I feel like I fit the role perfectly…My name is Miles, I’m Black and also Hispanic. There are so many things that line up with it…I just want to get that campaign going.”
The star is the son of rapper Wildchild a.k.a Jack Brown, and Cyndie Brown. Miles Brown has also mentioned how much of a fan he was of the comics even before it went mainstream and he mentioned that he started the campaign.
Miles Brown Has Met Tom Holland And Kevin Feige On The Red Carpet
Miles Brown seemed to be manifesting his role of a lifetime by actively campaigning to be cast as Miles Morales. Just as Tom Holland spoke about his dream of acting as Spider-Man years before he was cast, Brown too seems to be putting his dream out there for Marvel executives to decide on making a Miles Morales live-action film.
The Black-ish star has also met Tom Holland and Kevin Feige on the red carpet premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The actor also met with other actors in the film such as Zendaya, Jamie Foxx, and Willem Dafoe, leading many to create fan art with the pictures he posted on X (formerly Twitter).
In an interview with Build Series, Miles Brown mentioned that he also had Donald Glover’s approval. Brown mentioned that he had met with Glover and asked him to put in a good word for him after the latter starred as Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming. He said,
“[Marvel] already knows…It’s really up to them at this point…I’ve already talked about it with Tom [Holland] and…I saw Donald Glover at the Black Panther premiere…and I told him, ‘I really wanted to be Miles Morales. I don’t know if you could do anything’…After that, he went on an interview and he explained in the interview that I wanted to play Miles Morales.”
Marvel fans also seem to be on board the casting as many have expressed their excitement at Miles Brown being the perfect actor to play Miles Morales. Many have considered him to be the best fit at the moment, especially due to his similarities in parentage.
