Since 1994, paying tribute to the artists and filmmakers who died in the past year has become an annual segment at the Oscars. Arguably the most emotional segment of the Night, the In Memoriam section of 2024 kicked off with the remembrance of Alexei Navalny. Other notable names that were honored in the Award ceremony included Matthew Perry, Richard Lewis, Glenda Jackson, Tina Turner, Robbie Robertson, and Ryuichi Sakamoto.
However, like each year, several deceased figures were left out of the montage, which involved many prominent figures, including John Wick Star Lance Reddick, which has caused fans to outburst.
Fans Furious Over Lance Reddick and Other Notable Figures’ Snub From In Memoriam
The Academy is no stranger to leaving out beloved figures from the segment, with Anne Heche and Charlbi Dean being left out in 2023, and 2024 was no different. 2023 saw many notable figures leaving the world behind, which was hard to grasp for fans, and reasonably they were furious after witnessing some celebs being snubbed from the section. The names that were left out involved, Lance Reddick, Angus Cloud, Norman Lear, Burt Young, Ron Cephas Jones, Suzanne Somers, and Terence Davies.
It is time to stop doing these since every year they miss big people, the person in charge of this segment should be fired every year

Worse, some received an "and the rest in Gilligan's Island" credit at the end where dozens of tiny-type names popped up on a crowded screen. They could have streamlined, done some split screen multiples & made time
Argument likely these were TV ppl. But Lear? Influence was vast

How do they keep doing this

They left out Treat Williams and Lance Reddick? Even Burt Young? Treat Williams? Sheesh.

Why do they always have this problem every year??

While not involved in the montage, apart from Cloud, their names were shown in a brief collective slide, presented at the end of the emotional segment.
Fans Are Yet to See the Last of Lance Reddick on the Silver Screen
Although it has been months since the actor’s demise, fans have yet to see the last of Lance Reddick on the silver screen. Prior to his death, the John Wick Star completed shooting his scenes for the upcoming John Wick spin-off Ballerina, Starring Ana de Armas, slated to release this year. And per Producer Erica Lee, this isn’t just a cameo, as she previously confirmed, unlike Keanu Reeves, who has more of an extended cameo, Reddick will have a little bit more to do with the film.
“Ian has a little bit more to do, and John Wick is an extended cameo. He shot for about a week. Lance shot for a day. Those were last minute adds in a way, too.”
While fans are excited about Lance Reddick’s appearance in Ballerina, the fury among them following his and other beloved figures’ snub from the montage isn’t looking to alleviate anytime soon.
