The film’s smashing success, crossing $1 billion at the global box office, has taken even the most ardent fans by surprise. Featuring the legendary Wolverine, with Hugh Jackman stepping out of character retirement, many fans initially worried he would upend his perfect exit in Logan. How would this fit with Deadpool’s slapstick humor and fourth-wall-breaking antics?

Anyway, keeping that aside for now, some fans are up in arms over a possible CGI error in the film.

Deadpool 3: Ryan Reynolds Really Ignored Hugh Jackman’s Awful Wolverine Moment?

Deadpool 3 was primed to be a hit, considering the immense buzz its savvy marketing team had stirred up for months on end. But, as with any big movie release, not everything has gone off without a hitch. A viral Instagram video has sparked a flurry of speculation, claiming that the studio “forgot to patch this CGI” in one particular scene.

The scene in question shows Deadpool attempting some fancy sword work, only for his blades to mysteriously pass right through Wolverine’s arm like a hot knife through butter. Some are calling it a “CGI fail”, while others think it might be intentional, given Deadpool’s penchant for breaking the fourth wall and causing chaos wherever he goes.

Moreover, we could also question Ryan Reynolds about whether he overlooked this CGI hiccup involving Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. As the saying goes, “where there’s smoke, there’s fire,” and while some speculate the Deadpool star might have missed the slip, others are left scratching their heads.

Is this a simple oversight, or a cheeky nod to the mayhem both characters are known for? One fan even quipped, “The poor CGI is literally the joke in the scene.”

Let’s take a peek at what others are buzzing about:

Literally just seen this movie, there was no joke. -@blumadillo

Pretty sure this was intentional, and even so, I didn’t even notice it the first time I watched this. -@woulfisalive

Still the best thing marvel has done since end game. -@pogbootactual

The poor cgi is literally the joke in the scene. -@_.mclain._

The CGI in this scene was COMPLETELY necessary. -@mzaballo

Regardless of whether it was a mistake or a stroke of genius, can we ignore that Deadpool & Wolverine is a massive hit at the box office? With over $1 billion in worldwide earnings, it’s on track to become one of the highest-grossing films of the year.

Ryan Reynolds on Why CGI & High Production Costs Can’t Replace Compelling Storytelling

Ryan Reynolds, the man behind the mask of the Merc with a Mouth, has never been one to hold back when it comes to sharing his thoughts on the movie-making process. You see, the actor understands that with great power (and a bigger budget) comes great responsibility.

In an interview on Hot Ones, Reynolds delved into the tricky balance of maintaining Deadpool 3’s irreverent spirit while playing in the big leagues of the MCU. He talked about how some films get lost in the spectacle, focusing too much on CGI effects and not enough on what truly matters—the characters.

I think that the enemy of quality can very much be too much time and too much money. Some big movies that I’ve been on had a lot of money, and you keep throwing more money at a problem when your real problem is that you are focus on spectacle over character.

Reynolds knows that, at the end of the day, audiences don’t remember the explosions or the special effects. They remember the moments that hit them right in the feels—the one-liners that make them snort with laughter.

In a Variety interview, the actor emphasized his commitment to keeping Deadpool’s essence intact despite the influx of funds.

We want to make the movie for what it needs and not a penny more. Because it’s an MCU movie, access to certain characters and mythology was pretty unrestricted; that led to juicy moments and storylines in the movie.

So, whether you’re a die-hard fan of the Merc with a Mouth or a devoted follower of the clawed mutant, Deadpool & Wolverine has something for everyone. After all, in the world of superheroes, anything can happen—even a wonky CGI moment or two!
