Fueled by anticipation, the Apple Car has been the dream product of many Apple users in the past few years. Apple, the iconic tech giant valued at a staggering $2.8 trillion, had been secretly working on a revolutionary project codenamed “Project Titan” for over a decade.
This project, shrouded in secrecy, was meant to be Apple’s ambitious foray into the electric car market, revolutionizing the way we drive. After a decade of anticipation, the answer came – not with the charge of an electric battery, but with the quiet hum of disappointment.
Possible Reason Why Apple Car Was Scrapped
Recently, Bloomberg reported that Apple had quietly scrapped its Apple Car project altogether. This led to a lot of discussions online. Many are shocked at the tech giant scrapping its long-standing project. Some tech experts have taken to social media to express their take on the situation, including Tech-based YouTuber and Frisbee player Marques Brownlee.
My take: Apple has realized they don’t need to make a whole car to control the entire car software experience… car manufacturers are so bad at software that everyone just puts CarPlay on anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ https://t.co/bHB8d2Yd6Y

“My take: Apple has realized they don’t need to make a whole car to control the entire car software experience… car manufacturers are so bad at software that everyone just puts CarPlay on anyway ¯_(ツ)_/¯” – Marques Brownlee on X
As per Brownlee, Apple might have scrapped the project because of CarPlay. It is an Apple standard that enables the head unit to be a display device. More than 800 car models have support for CarPlay, and thus, it won’t be surprising if the tech giant shifts its attention to the product after scrapping Apple Car.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk Had His Response to The Apple Car News
Apple’s self-driving electric car project is dead, leaving the field clear for Tesla. This could be a double-edged sword for Elon Musk and his company. On the one hand, it removes a major competitor with deep pockets and a knack for innovation. On the other hand, it eliminates the pressure that often drives groundbreaking advancements.
For now, however, it’s too far away to think of the negative effects. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, certainly had his reaction to the news, which he took to X.

Musk simply put emojis to express his feelings on the news. While Tesla needs to stay sharp in a rapidly evolving EV market, it might be a time to celebrate for the company – as one of the biggest potential competitors got eliminated themselves.
