The Release Date For The Metal Gear Solid Remaster Has Been Announced and It Is Coming Sooner Than You Think!

If you were one of the millions of fans watching the PlayStation Showcase in May, then your interest was likely peaked with the trailer for the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1. The Metal Gear franchise was created by video game juggernaut, Hideo Kojima, and originally developed through Konami Group Corporation in 1987. The franchise has had an incredible history spanning every PlayStation and Xbox console and goes all the way back to the Commodore 64 8-bit home computer. While the PlayStation Showcase previewed a captivating trailer for the master collection, it was the Nintendo Direct event on June 21, which finally gave fans a release date of October 24.

Fans have been shocked to learn that despite such a recent announcement, the game will also be released very soon. The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection only adds to an already stacked list of games that will be coming out in October 2023. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Forza Motorsport, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Alan Wake 2, and Alone in the Dark will all be releasing in October as well. While these are all highly anticipated games which will no doubt give the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection some warranted competition, there is certainly a fanbase hyped for the collection.

What Will Be Included in the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection?

It has been announced that the game will only be coming to PC and current generation Sony, Microsoft, and Switch consoles. According to the game’s listing on the PlayStation Store, “volume 1 line-up features the original titles and beginning of the Metal Gear series, including the original versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid (which also includes VR Missions/Special Missions), and the HD Collection versions of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.” The Master collection will include some NES ports, but, Konami has said it intends to remake more Metal Gear games.

The master collection will also include two digital comics as well as several digital books and screenplays that accompany the various titles. The digital books included are: “Metal Gear Solid: Screenplay Book, Metal Gear Solid: Master Book, Metal Gear Solid 2: Screenplay Book, Metal Gear Solid 2: Master Book, Metal Gear Solid 3: Screenplay Book, Metal Gear Solid 3: Master Book, Metal Gear & Metal Gear 2: Screenplay Book, and Metal Gear & Metal Gear 2: Master Book.

The Metal Gear Solid franchise will likely benefit from this move, as the titles are all finally coming together to tell an entire story. It has been difficult for gamers to completely experience this series, since it has developed over more than 35 years of time. The Metal Gear Solid series is known to have a complex fictional story.

The storyline goes from 1964 in Snake Eater (Delta) to 2018 in Rising: Revengeance. This collection will hopefully provide the comprehensive plot that fans of the games have been wanting. It has also been announced that MGS Delta: Snake Eater, which is a remake to MGS 3, is set to release after the master collection and will likely release sometime in 2024. However, there is currently no word on when the second volume will be released.
