Hugh Jackman’s 2013 film, Prisoners, has taken over Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam on the streaming charts. Black Adam was released on HBO Max on 16 December 2022 and soon became the most streamed film on the streaming platform. According to Nielsen’s recently released viewership data, the film was overtaken by a decade-old film, starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Hugh Jackman’s Prisoners Beats Black Adam 

The third-party tracker, Nielsen, released their latest batch of viewership data after Netflix released its viewership last week. According to their viewership report, Hugh Jackman’s 2013 film Prisoners has topped the streaming charts with 14.2 million viewing hours.

The report consisted of the viewership from December 12th to December 18th. Although Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam premiered on HBO Max on December 16, Prisoners was released almost ten years before Black Adam. The 2013 film is streaming on Netflix, and despite not being a Netflix original, the film has garnered the top spot in Nielsen’s viewership chart. DC’s Black Adam is in the second spot with 10.5 million viewing hours (630 million minutes).

The list features Brad Pitt’s Bullet Train in the third spot with 544 million minutes of view time. Macaulay Culkin’s 1990 film Home Alone and Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio are at the fourth and fifth spots on the list, respectively.

Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners received favorable reviews from critics at the time of its release and Jackman and Gyllenhaal were highly praised for their performances in the film. It was also nominated for Best Cinematography at the 86th Academy Awards and is still considered one of the best films of 2013.

Hugh Jackman Wraps Up The Music Man

Earlier in his interview, Hugh Jackman shared that he would be devoting his next six months to getting back in shape for his comeback as Wolverine. The X-Men star shared that as soon as he wraps up his musical, The Music Man, he would start following his Wolverine diet and training.

The Music Man wrapped up on 15 January. Hugh Jackman shared a tweet saying that he is honored to be a part of the musical. He said in his tweet, “That’s a wrap. What an incredible experience! Thank you to every single person who made @MusicManBway a huge success. I’m honored.”

Jackman portrayed Professor Harold Hill in the musical, which opened on 10 February 2022. The musical was supposed to hold its final show on 1 January 2023, but considering its popularity, the producers extended it till 15 January 2023.

The Prestige star was also nominated for the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a musical for his performance as Professor Harold Hill. As he said previously, Jackman would now be preparing for his MCU debut in Deadpool 3, which is set to release on 8 November 2024.
