Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the most popular actors in Hollywood right now. He recently voiced Krypto in the movie, DC League of Super-Pets, alongside Kevin Hart. He is also set to appear as the titular character in Black Adam, releasing soon. The actor has been promoting his two DC movies and recently claimed that a Marvel vs. DC crossover movie might happen.

He has always known how to grab the attention of the fans with his remarks, but the actor seems to be overly optimistic about his claims. Not so long ago, he even made some claims about Henry Cavill’s Superman being a part of his upcoming film.

The Rock spoke too soon with his Marvel vs. DC crossover claim

The actor, in a promotional interview with Total Film Magazine for its upcoming issue, claimed that he is “optimistic” that the Marvel vs. DC crossover movie will happen soon.

According to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson,

“Just my nature is optimistic. And especially when it comes to creative. Especially when it comes to movies. And especially when it comes to the pantheon of DC superheroes and supervillains. Across the street, we have the pantheon of superheroes and supervillains of Marvel. To me, they can not only exist, but they should, in my mind, cross paths one day.”

As the actor has worked with both Disney and now is a part of DCEU, does he have some insiders on the talks between the two studios or is it just saying something the superhero genre fans want to hear to make it to the headlines? There is no confirmation or any such information from either of the studios and also looking at the recent merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery, it might not be happening anytime soon.

Would a Marvel vs. DC crossover happen?

It might be a little rude to say that it is completely impossible. The two franchises are the biggest names in the superhero genre that has dominated the screens for over a decade. The fans of both franchises have always had a competitive feeling, arguing about who’s better, but both groups have always hoped for a collaboration. It might settle the debate or be the greatest superhero team-up in the history of cinema.

Previously, DC and Marvel have come together for fan service with crossover events like JLA/Avengers and Amalgam Comics. And recently fan service has taken over the movies as well with clues of Michael Keaton returning as Batman, also Ben Affleck; Patrick Stewart reprising his role as Professor X, and John Krasinski appearing as Mr. Fantastic in the Doctor Strange sequel.

So, there might be some chances of that happening. But not anytime soon. DCEU is facing issues as well related to its actors and the recent merger has led to the cancellation of many upcoming projects. Looking at the same, Disney might not be up for a collaboration with the studio till it is in a better place.

As for, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, we will get to see him in Black Adam coming out on 21 October 2022.
