Dwayne Johnson isn’t having a particularly good time right now. The actor had high hopes for Black Adam, but the film failed to impress at the box office and this resulted in the actor getting fired from DC. To make matters worse, his alleged enmity with Vin Diesel resulted in him bidding goodbye to the Fast and Furious franchise. Now, the Jumanji franchise is all that he has left. But, it looks like he will have to bid goodbye to that as well since Kevin Hart is planning on moving on to other things.

2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is a reboot/sequel to the late Robin Williams-led 1995’s Jumanji film. The 2019 film, Jumanji: The Next Level, is a direct sequel to the 2017 film. It received rave reviews and led many to wonder if there was going to be another film in the franchise with Dwayne Johnson and others in the cast. Speaking at the 2023 Academy Awards red carpet, Kevin Hart clarified that there are some plans in the works regarding Jumanji 4.

In an interview with Variety, Hart said:

“We’re going to have to do it soon. I talked to him the day before yesterday. Right now, we got the ball rolling on some big ideas. We’re talking about, of course, another ‘Jumanji.’ That’s been a conversation. [We’re] just figuring out the thing that can act as what would or could be the final chapter of he and I. We feel we need something big to put our duo to an end and not just leave it undone like something that we can say, ’this is going to be our last and final movie.'”

In the post-credits scene of Jumanji: The Next Level, the animals present in the game go out into the real world. So, Jumanji 4’s story will probably be set on the actual Earth as well as in the game. It would be reminiscent of the plot of the original Robin Williams film. It’s expected that Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black will all return for the fourth movie.

Variety questioned Kevin Hart on the 2023 Oscars red carpet about any future plans he has with Dwayne Johnson. The actor replied that the two could collaborate on another big project soon. As per Hart:

“We’re talking about it. It could be another franchise. It could be something big. but [we’re] trying to figure out what that thing is. That’s the focus point right now.”

So even though the Jumanji franchise could come to an end soon after Jumanji 4, Hart and Johnson’s partnership could continue. Considering the fact that The Rock doesn’t have any big franchises to bank on anymore, building a new one from the ground up would be a good idea. However, it doesn’t mean that Johnson doesn’t have anything in the works. The star is currently working on Red One, which he also allegedly hopes to build into a franchise.
