The former WWE champion lit up the arena with his presence in the ring on Saturday night. However, the story of the Bloodline ended differently, even as the stakes were against Rhodes. As momentous as the occasion was, Johnson also sounded a warning to the new champion.

Cody Rhodes took on Roman Reigns for the championship on April 7th, in front of a packed house at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He avenged last year’s loss to the Tribal Chief, and in the process, Rhodes became the new face of the WWE.

Following his victory, Triple H honored Rhodes. He named the champion as the wrestler to lead the WWE to greater heights. The American Nightmare even had tears in his eyes as they played a special video to commemorate his achievements.

It was a very touching moment, but Dwayne Johnson interrupted it. He made his way up to the ring amidst much fanfare and boos from the crowd. The Final Boss did not let it slide though, and he parroted their words back at them.

The Rampage actor gave Rhodes his flowers before he took the belt from him and put it on his shoulder. He stated that he would be taking a break from wrestling to focus on his acting career. Before he handed the belt back, he did have words of warning for the American Nightmare, though, stating he would return for Rhodes.

“Your story with Roman Reigns is over, and you did it. But our story has just begun,” said The Rock (via Cage Side Seats).

Johnson handed Rhodes a package before he left. His words could potentially foreshadow what lies ahead for both wrestlers, and the Rock is not one to break his promise.

Dwayne Johnson is focused on filming after WrestleMania

The actor was busy preparing for his WrestleMania appearance after nearly a decade. With the event now complete, Johnson can focus on filming again.

According to ESPN, Johnson will start working on the A24 sports film, The Smashing Machine. The Black Adam star will play Mark Kerr, who became known for his legendary mixed martial arts skills.

The studio announced it in December last year, and the film will be helmed by Benny Safdie. Emily Blunt is also in talks to star as Kerr’s former wife, Dawn Staples. The duo have already worked once before, on Jungle Cruise, and it will be their second project together if Blunt gets on board.

The actor is also set to star in the remake of Moana, both in the live-action film and the animated sequel. Johnson’s slate is full of films, but his fans will hope he returns to the ring very soon.
