The season has been heavily political with some characters being a satirical representation of several important real-life political figures. Series creator Eric Kripke has reportedly based Homelander on Donald Trump, and this comparison, plus the character’s heinous actions, has people talking.
In the latest season, Homelander and Victoria Neuman cook up a plan to assassinate President Robert Singer using a shapeshifting supe. The finale will see the execution of that plan, however, the fictional plot has now become more prominent and unexpectedly relevant with the recent assassination attempt on Trump.
The finale of the show now has a higher possibility of triggering and offending some sections of the audience. Knowing that the makers of the show have now put up a disclaimer on the day of the finale’s release on Prime Video. The show was obviously leaning on the reality of past presidential assassinations like that of JFK. But as the makers said, it is purely coincidental that the show’s fictional storyline eerily foreshadowed recent events surrounding Trump’s assassination. The disclaimer will certainly put away naysayers who were ready to pounce on the show because of the similarities.
Eric Kripke Already Knows How The Boys Will End In Season 5
Eric Kripke has successfully anchored The Boys to new heights and continues to push the boundaries with its storytelling. The fourth season culminates today and the crew will be back for one more season. In an interview with Empire, Kripke revealed that he has a particular end in mind for the characters in the final season.
The showrunner stated that the show has been building up to the ultimate clash between Homelander and Butcher and one cannot keep extending that indefinitely. He teased that whatever happens in between, he has a fixed ending in mind already. Kripke said,
You can’t build a show that’s about these two forces of Homelander and Butcher slowly closing in on each other without bringing that to a head. Whenever that last episode occurs, I know what happens.
The final season promises to be a much more thrilling and explosive season than previous ones. Kripke and the crew do not want to overstay their welcome and want the show to end on a high note. It remains to be seen what Kripke has planned for audiences in the final season.
