Just like Friends and The Office, Parks and Recreation is a show that we keep going back to. One rewatch is never enough now, is it? While the first season received mixed reviews from critics and was often compared to The Office, the series had a brilliant comeback starting from the second season. The show stars Adam Scott, Chris Pratt, Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, and more.

The show ended in 2015 but the cast reunited for a special reunion episode in 2020 before closing the chapter for good. But that doesn’t mean fans cannot keep holding on to that thread of hope of seeing their favorite characters return, right? In a recent interview, Adam Scott gets candid about the possibility of gathering the cast for an actual Parks and Recreation reboot.

Adam Scott starred in the 2009 sitcom Party Down which was cancelled just after two seasons. However, the cast did reunite for a special six-episode revival season after it was announced in 2021. The limited series was released in February 2023. Needless to say, bringing back a show that ended in 2010 gave Parks and Recreation the hope that there was still a chance that a reboot would happen.

Discussing the possibility of the reboot with The Hollywood Reporter, Scott stated that Party Down and Parks and Rec are two completely different things and the latter’s reboot depends on the decision of many, including Amy Poehler.

“Party Down was super fun, and I got to have a hand in sort of one of the five or six of us who kind of got to push that boulder up the hill and it was just such a blast. Parks and Rec is a completely [different thing] with Mike [Schur] and Amy [Poehler] and Greg [Daniels] and all of those wonderful people’s decision, and if they would ever be interested in doing something like that, it would be up to them.”

He then added that he is so fond of his ex-co-stars that he doesn’t think a reboot is the only thing that can bring them together once again. He’ll just be happy to grab a snack with them. As for reviving the show, Scott believes that Parks and Recreation has already got its perfect ending.

“But I mean, I would go get a sandwich with all of those people. I wouldn’t have to be shooting the show. I just love all of ’em so much. I mean, the show itself sort of had a real ending.”

While Scott absolutely adores his Parks and Rec co-stars, he is unsure if a reboot will be happening anytime soon or ever, for that matter.

Scott then talked about the special episode they reunited for that was broadcast on April 30, 2020. The episode was created as a fundraiser for Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund. Everyone from Poehler and Nick Offerman to Chris Pratt and Aziz Ansari returned for the small reunion to give fans a glimpse of what happened to their characters.

While that was a great treat to the sitcom’s fans, the Severance actor is not sure if they would be doing something like this ever again.

“We did do something over the pandemic where we all got back together and made an episode [to raise money for Feeding America]. I don’t know if there would ever be any more, but I mean, I really don’t know.”

He then spent a moment to show his love and appreciation for his fellow cast members who he misses dearly. Scott even stated that it is difficult for him to rewatch the series as it makes him quite emotional.

“I love the show and love all the people. It’s always fun seeing any of them. I haven’t seen the show in a long time just because I miss it and I feel like it would be sad to watch it, but it’s just such a lovely show and lovely group of people.”

While we as fans would love nothing more than to see everyone reunite for a reboot, we can all agree that ‘One Last Ride’ was the perfect ending to Parks and Recreation as we got to bid farewell to both the characters as well as the city of Pawnee.

You can stream Parks and Recreation on Peacock Premium.
