Claiming how her performance in Swordfish assisted her to earn the Oscar-winning role in Monster’s Ball, Halle Berry opened up about her intimate scene with Angelina Jolie’s ex-husband, Billy Bob Thornton. Recalling the much greater purpose of her thriller movie that prepped her for Monster’s Ball, Berry mentioned dating Thornton before engaging in s*x scenes.

Before grabbing her Oscar-winning role in Monster’s Ball, Halle Berry appeared in the 2001 thriller Swordfish, alongside Hugh Jackman and John Travolta. Although her heist movie didn’t perform well critically or commercially, it indeed helped her explore her s*xuality on the big screen.
Admitting to feeling nervous and awkward while undressing herself in front of the camera, Berry credited Swordfish for helping her achieve a newfound confidence. This even generated speculations surrounding the actress being offered extra money to go n*de for the films. However, Berry denied the rumors and insisted it wasn’t the case.
However, she later admitted, her newfound confidence after Swordfish helped her with her raunchy scenes in Monster’s Ball, with Angelina Jolie’s ex-husband, Billy Bob Thornton. Discussing how her thriller movie prepped her for the Oscar-winning role, Halle Berry opened up about the process that went into the preparation for her intimate scene with Thornton.
Halle Berry Once Dated Angelina Jolie’s Ex-husband
Discussing her raunchy scenes from her 2001 film Monster’s Ball, with Billy Bob Thornton, Halle Berry asserted, that her s*x scenes with Jolie’s ex-husband were far from a walk in the park. However, while crediting Swordfish for putting her in the mindset for her intimate scenes in her Oscar-winning role, the actress also praised Thornton for his help.
“In Swordfish, it was totally gratuitous n*dity, and I knew it. But I probably wouldn’t have been able to do the s*x scene in Monster’s Ball if I hadn’t shown my br*asts in Swordfish,”
Claiming how Billy Bob Thornton eased the situation before their intimate scene, by dating her for three weeks, Halle Berry almost hinted at breaking Jolie’s marriage. “We shot the s*x scene on Day 19 of a 21-day shoot. I always say Billy Bob and I dated for three weeks and then we had s*x” Berry asserted.
Admitting how Thornton’s icebreaking process eased her, Halle Berry also subtly pointed at what broke off Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton’s marriage. Tying the knot in 2000, Jolie and Thornton divorced just three years later, in 2003. Thus, considering the timeline of Monster’s Ball (2001), it is hard to overlook that Berry’s involvement might have initiated a crack in Jolie’s first marriage.
