Following the release of The Umbrella Academy Season 3, Netflix renewed the series for a fourth and final season. Steve Blackman, the creator of the Netflix original, claimed that the next season would have an amazing story that would keep fans on edge till the last minutes. Blackman previously claimed that he only planned four seasons for the superhero-comedy-drama and had already planned what he seeks to represent in the final season.

Fans expected the fourth season to have a minimum of 8 to 10 episodes. However, unlike the first three seasons of the show, which had ten episodes each, the final season will not have ten episodes. The creator of the show has revealed how many episodes will be there in the final season.

The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Will Only Have Six Episodes

For the past few days, there have been rumors about The Umbrella Academy Season 4 having only six episodes. When one fan asked the creator of the show to clarify that the rumor is false, Steve Blackman revealed how many episodes will season 4 have.

The fans asked, “THERE IS NO WAY THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY S4 HAS 6 EPISODES STOP LYING THAT ISN’T TRUE STOP.” However, the answer was not something fans expected. Blackman replied to the query by saying, “It’s true. But you’re going to love them.”

The Canadian television writer earlier also replied to a tweet claiming that the final season may be short but the six episodes would be ‘amazing.’ Earlier reports claimed that Blackman will be working on a new Netflix project and this is why the final season of The Umbrella Academy could be shorter than the earlier seasons.

However, fans did not expect season 4 to have only six episodes. The expected number of episodes was eight and fans are not happy with the streaming giant rushing into concluding their favorite show.

Fans Want Longer Episodes in the Final Season

Steve Blackman confirmed that the next and final season of The Umbrella Academy will only have six episodes. While some fans believe that the creator would do his best in these six episodes, others seem divided over the number of episodes.

A number of fans claimed that reducing the number of episodes is never a good decision, others asked Blackman to keep all episodes as lengthy as possible. They claimed that if the final season will have six episodes, all episodes better be longer than one hour.

Steve Blackman has shared that season 4 will follow the members of the Umbrella Academy struggling without their superpowers. By the end of season 3, all of them lost their powers. He has also revealed the name of the first episode of the show, which is  “The Unbearable Tragedy of Getting What You Want.”

The filming for season 4 will reportedly start in February 2023, and the series will be released on Netflix by the end of 2023. The cast members of the series Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore are also expected to return in the final season of the show.

All three seasons of The Umbrella Academy are available to stream on Netflix.
