This is likely in celebration of the show’s spin-off series called The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. The show will focus on these two protagonists and will continue the famous saga in a new light.

Call of Duty Is Switching up Its Collabs

Multiplayer experiences like Warzone keep the culture of collaboration alive and thriving.

This isn’t the first time we’ve encountered a collab in Call of Duty: Warzone. The battle royale played by millions sees a fascinating collab every now and then, making the game even more exciting and fitting to those who are connoisseurs of movies and TV shows. For instance, a recent leak also suggested a collaboration that would feature The Boys.

According to insiders like Alaix on X, Rick and Michonne will be joining the roster in Call of Duty’s online experience.

Both Rick and Michonne have been an integral part of the show in recent years. Many other games (including Telltale’s take on it) feature some of the characters directly from the TV show. It will be interesting to see how these fighters, who otherwise handle walkers, go against Call of Duty players.

The Upcoming Collab Sheds Light on The Walking Dead’s New Direction

The new spin-off will feature the two iconic characters originally from The Walking Dead TV show.

The two characters played by Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira have made a huge impact on the franchise. After the original series somewhat gave these characters their own narrative conclusions, fans will see the return of Rick and Michonne in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. The spin-off arrives on February 25 next year on AMC and AMC+.

The show will follow the unique bond between the two characters who initially crossed paths in the original show. However, fans bid farewell to the show after 11 seasons that concluded in November 2022.

Battle royales and other live-service games have a habit of featuring new and exciting movies and shows as part of their collab events, in hopes of promoting both the game and the source material. This kind of move benefits everyone, and we’ve seen success with this business model in multiple examples.

For instance, Apex Legends recently featured an entire in-game event as well as cosmetics all tied to Post Malone. On the other hand, games like Fortnite: Battle Royale and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege have both featured Rick and Morty characters (as absurd as it may seem, it worked!).

The IMDb page for the new spin-off of the famous show features a description:

The love story between Rick and Michonne, is changed by a world that is constantly changing, will they find themselves in a war against the living or will they discover that they too are The Walking Dead.

Coming back to Call of Duty’s update that will feature these characters, it’s relieving to finally receive something that will hype up the game instead of riling its existing state of contempt. That’s right, Modern Warfare 3’s reception hasn’t been the best, and players have felt aggravated and unfulfilled thanks to the lackluster single-player campaign and weak multiplayer experience.

The broken matchmaking system and Modern Warfare 3’s half-baked gameplay aren’t helping the franchise truly grow. However, ongoing experiences like multiplayer and Warzone are perhaps the last chance for Activision Blizzard to truly showcase how exciting and fulfilling the game’s future can be.

With collaborations like The Walking Dead, not only does the game bring in new content that keeps players excited, but it also welcomes new players who would otherwise only invest their time in the show or movie and not the game.

This, combined with the leaks suggesting that The Boys will also arrive in the game, indicates a fresh take on the online features the game has to offer.
