Netflix’s The Witcher hardly needs any more controversy as it is and yet there is always something else to add to the already building list of rumors and speculations. Among the cast, Freya Allan and Anya Chalotra, who play Ciri and Yennefer respectively have remained largely and unusually silent on the issue of Henry Cavill’s exit, especially considering how they are a part of the series’ core cast members. Joey Batey, on the other hand, did voice his disappointment while Blood Origin‘s Michelle Yeoh lent her support to Liam Hemsworth.

And in the rest of the hullabaloo that followed on the fans’ part, there existed a nostalgic throwback to the days when Henry Cavill with his on-screen ward and love interest would set out into the world to promote their show and in the process, secrets would be revealed and comments about co-stars from behind-the-scenes would grace the audience from their press tours and interviews.

Anya Chalotra Reveals BTS Details on Henry Cavill as Geralt

Working alongside one of the most unique rosters of actors must have led to The Witcher cast and crew spending an exceptional time on set. Despite the backlash received in the aftermath of Season 2, the story was much more focused on the evolutionary arc of Geralt and Yennefer’s relationship and the character development of Ciri and Yennefer as well. However, as intriguing as the story was, the experience itself for Anya Chalotra while filming scenes with Henry Cavill was nothing short of phenomenal and extraordinary.

Anya Chalotra was the first person to be cast in The Witcher and one of the primary conditions during Henry Cavill’s audition process was for the pair to sell their onscreen chemistry believably to their audience. However, when it came to shooting intimate scenes on the show, Cavill – renowned as he was for being a walking and talking encyclopedia of all things Sapkowski – was not the only one to voice a hesitation to the idea of Geralt and Yennefer’s s*x scene.

According to reports, the actress revealed that both she and Cavill were disinclined toward portraying an intimate relationship onscreen between their two characters, considering how the pair had more of an emotional bond rather than a physical or sexual one – per the original work by Andrzej Sapkowski.

Rumors of Henry Cavill’s Misogynistic Behavior On Set

Recently, a leaked transcript from a podcast, Deux U, has ruffled many feathers for levying allegations from an insider source against Henry Cavill for being toxic and misogynistic in the workplace. The rumors, unsubstantiated as they were, led to widespread discussions on the net with some stating that these claims were intentionally made to soil Cavill’s name in the aftermath of his exit from The Witcher while others fiercely defended the actor online against all blame.

The Witcher‘s showrunner, Lauren Hissrich, as well as Henry Cavill’s female co-stars, including Freya Allan and Anya Chalotra, have been not only supportive but verbose, too, in their appreciation of their colleague during the entire term of their shoot together. But as the actor now moves away from his designated role at Netflix toward his passion project at Amazon, one can only wait for the series’ third season’s premiere to witness the final extent of Henry Cavill’s contribution to the character of Geralt and drown in nostalgia as fans tune in to consciously watch his last performance as the beloved White Wolf aka Geralt of Rivia.

The Witcher is now available for streaming on Netflix.
