“Goodfellas is one of those movies that whenever it comes on television, there goes my next few hours. A lot of his films, especially with Goodfellas, definitely deal in the underworld. That’s been a recurring theme in a lot of his works, and I think people are attracted to that.”
Dicaprio noted how the filmmaker always makes sure to touch upon the subject of humanity in his movies, evoking emotions and bringing out the imperfections of the characters to make them more relatable to the audience. The actor continued:
“But more so the fact that he’s always trying to grasp the humanity of these people, the flawed nature of these characters. And that’s what’s so powerful about that movie.”
Finally, The Revenant actor reiterated how Scorsese manages to captivate the viewers’ minds through his storytelling, wrapping them inside his world. He further shared:
“There’s something about the way he connects you as an audience member and envelopes you completely into another world that you become entranced by it.”
