In 2009, Matthew McConaughey shared his own real-life encounter with a paranormal spirit while promoting his romance comedy Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. The actor told the scary tale of Madame Bleu. “I was not even under the influence, yeah, and she was there,” the actor said.

“She wasn’t that happy, it didn’t seem like she was going to be much fun to hang around or have in my house, so I went ahead and stood my ground. I opened the door and said, ‘You can move around all you want but I’m not going anywhere.’ For weeks everyone that came to the house said the same thing: ‘There’s someone down in that hall, there’s somebody down in that hall.’”

The actor further said that it does not matter if he believes or not but other people have experienced it too. “I know and I’m not one to say I believe or don’t believe in ghosts” but people kept coming and the actor would not tell them, but they would experience it too. The room, the actor said, became too popular later as people started to love the room suddenly after hating it for its ghostly presence for so long.

McConaughey’s encounter with the ghost is still something he could endure in the long run but the actor’s experience with the scary turbulence on a plane might haunt him for the rest of his life. The Interstellar actor and his wife Camila Alves were on board a Lufthansa plane, when the plane suddenly encountered strong turbulence and the aircraft had to divert and land near Washington DC, changing the course. Reportedly, the plane was scheduled to fly from Texas to Germany. “Captain said it dropped 4000 feet,” McConaughey said on Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa.

“It’s zero gravity your red wine and the glass and the plates that your food was on are all suspended floating still just in the air. And to look at it for that long which wasn’t that long, one two three four one, and then boom. Everything just comes crashing down. Yeah, it was a hell of a scare, a complete loss of control. You’re completely a 100 feeling of I am not in control I have no way to get control of this situation.”

The actor further revealed that his tray table held him down. “I did not have my seatbelt on,” the actor said. And there was not a seat belt warning right before it happened. As they were getting ready for another turbulence, the second just hit the plane. The Oscar winner also explained the crazy situation inside the plane as all the people were reacting differently to the scare they just had. However, a friend of the actor who was a pilot sat near him and somehow comforted the actor.
