Pedro Pascal is a wonderful actor whose career apparently received a new lease of life ever since he became part of the Star Wars franchise as the Mandalorian, in the series of the same name. Not only do fans love the series, but Pascal’s fan base has considerably expanded ever since the actor started leading as Din Mando Djarin.

Yet, due to the presence of the suit and the helmet, his role has been reduced to a voice-over, with him largely being absent from the third season’s set. Furthermore, the actor has numerous other projects lined up including Marvel’s Fantastic Four, which presents a bigger challenge that the actor will be there in the upcoming Mandalorian season and its spin-off movie. If these concerns weren’t enough, Pascal’s latest remark about joining the MCU has spelled more bad news for the actor’s future in the Star Wars universe.

Pedro Pascal was a welcoming addition to the huge Star Wars universe ever since he first starred in the Jon Favreau-directed Disney+ series, The Mandalorian. Its initial success was in no small part thanks to the efforts of the actor himself, who appeared in the entity of season 1 despite doing the helmet the majority of the time.

Yet in season 3, the actor was absent and his role was just being a voice-over actor for his body doubles who wore the suit and helmet for the whole season, as he himself revealed to Variety last year. His absence, despite the character wearing a helmet, was deeply felt, and his talent seems wasted (see Collider).

Furthermore, the actor has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a major role as one of the leads in Marvel’s first family, the Fantastic Four. And his recent comments regarding his casting on Entertainment Tonight seem to subtly hint the actor is willing to move on from Star Wars as he stated There isn’t anything more exciting than being in a cast like that.

Adding on that it feels unbelievable to be in such a family, Pascal’s joining the MCU has hinted that he would be further moving away from The Mandalorian, which risks the upcoming projects’ quality. Moreover, fans pretty much identify the character with Pascal and his not being under the helmet seems weird to a lot of Star Wars fans (see Reddit).

Will Pedro Pascal Be In The Mandalorian Season 4?

It is no secret that the fourth season of the series is already in the works and many have been curious if Pedro Pascal will be there after scheduling conflicts prevented him from being physically present on the set of season 3. As per Bespin Bulletin, the actor’s commitments to The Last of Us and Gladiator 2 would potentially prevent him from being on the set of season 4.

Furthermore, as per Inside the Magic, the actor even reportedly left his horror movie Weapons due to scheduling conflicts with starring in Fantastic Four, even though at the time of this news the actor had not been confirmed for the MCU reboot.

But since his casting as Mr. Fantastic has since been confirmed and the reboot will be released in July 2025, it is possible scheduling conflicts would yet again prevent the actor from being physically present on the sets of season 4 and the spin-off centered on his character.

Although Pascal has on several occasions stated he will not be exiting the Star Wars universe and will be playing the character as long as he can (see Screen Rant), his not being under the helmet might make the quality and the reception of the show drop. Since many times actors improvise and the production changes a lot of dialogues and scenes, him just being a voiceover for dialogues pre-written is certainly a talent wasted.

Furthermore, with the Last of Us season, 2 also eyeing a 2025 release date (see US Magazine), this further comes as a disappointing update for the many fans of the actor and the Disney+ series.

The Mandalorian can be streamed on Disney+.
