Franchise lead actor Vin Diesel recently revealed to Variety that spinoffs of the Fast and Furious franchise are in the works. Further, a female-led film is to be added to the spinoffs.

“I started developing the female spinoff…in 2017 with other spinoffs, and the sooner I deliver the finale, the sooner I can launch all the spinoffs,” Diesel told Variety.

As per reports, Fast X is one of the two parts of the movie. Talking about the finale of the franchise, the actor said, “It’s bittersweet to think of a finale.” Earlier, talking about the studio reaction after watching Fast X and if he could make the finale a trilogy, the actor stated that the ending might be expanded into three films. Hinting at a possible 12th film, the XXX actor said, “Look how many characters and great talent there is in the movie.”

“There was no way I can pull that off unless I had everyone on for five seconds. These characters are appealing and we need to see more of them.”

Diesel’s co-star Michelle Rodriguez, however, is not sure if she would appear in the spinoffs. “You pass the baton on. You take the back seat,” she said.

There are a lot of characters in the franchise and it is too early to predict which character will lead the new spinoffs. The studio has already given onscreen space to two important characters in the 2019 spinoff Hobbs & Shaw.
