Hugh Jackman said goodbye to his acclaimed Marvel role in Logan, but one fine day on August 15, 2022, he had a vision while driving that convinced him he had to pick his adamantium claws once again. Thus, mid-driving, he gave a call to his long-time best friend, Ryan Reynolds.

At the same time, in another place, Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds were debating about making another Deadpool flick, set in the MCU this time, and very close to telling Kevin Feige that it was not the right time perhaps.

While Reynolds then convinced Feige that Jackman’s call was a sign and a one-in-a-billion chance, Jackman was absolutely certain in his conviction that this was what he wanted for his character. In their latest interview with Vanity Fair, Jackman revealed:

I instinctively knew that Deadpool was going to allow us to get to a different side of the [Wolverine] character than I’ve ever played before, in every way, from emotion, humor, dialogue, and action. Everything felt new and fresh to me.

He also went on to state that it was working with his best friends that helped him take the step.

And I’d be sharing it with Ryan and Shawn, who are two of my best friends. The three of us together are like the Three Amigos. There was not a day where I wasn’t in tears laughing. I felt so rejuvenated playing the part. I mean, I’m 25 years in, man, and it feels better than ever.

After hearing these words, the excitement level of fans is certain to increase. While all three are brilliant in their respective crafts, their passion and determination to bring the story to the big screen together make the upcoming film even more anticipatory to watch.

Shawn Levy Reveals Wolverine Sets Deadpool & Wolverine  Apart from Other Marvel Movies

Having Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine alone is an exciting feat, but director Shawn Levy believes it is Wolverine’s presence and Jackman’s portrayal that truly sets apart Deadpool & Wolverine from other MCU and Fox movies.

Without sacrificing the legacy that Jackman has built after portraying Wolverine for two decades, the trio wanted to bring the most full-throated version of that clawed mutant. While Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool is the only one who is fully aware of the fourth wall and the only unreliable narrator, Wolverine is the one who provides the gravitas the movie needs.

Hugh’s performance gives the movie a gravitas and a raw, soulful quality that is unbelievable, and I can’t say much more without spoiling it. It’s among the things that differentiate the movie from prior X-Men or Deadpool movies.

Stated Levy to Vanity Fair, as he continued to describe how vital Logan’s character is to Deadpool & Wolverine.

The fact that Logan is with a comedic engine for the entirety of the movie changes everything. It’s like Logan is strapped to the hood of a Ferrari doing 120 down the Autobahn.

Their special friendship and the comfort of working with a co-star and director who cared as much about a character as Jackman did, further sets the upcoming flick apart from other movies. Crafted with so much love, care, and devotion, it is no wonder that the movie is anticipated to be a huge blockbuster.

Deadpool & Wolverine will be in theatres on July 26!
