Director Chad Stahelski has expressed his desire to collaborate with a few actors in upcoming installments of the John Wick series. While Chapter 4 seemingly concluded the action-packed saga, Stahelski is actively gearing up for fresh spin-offs, hinting at exciting new directions for the franchise.
Chad Stahelski Wants Renowned Actors In John Wick
During a recent interview with The Direct, Stahelski shared his enthusiasm for potential collaborators. He mentioned that there’s quite a lengthy list, but the first name that immediately came to his mind was Cillian Murphy. Being a fan of Peaky Blinders, Stahelski believes that Cillian would seamlessly integrate into their projects. He told Far Out,
“There’s a huge list, but just the first thing that came to mindset was Cillian Murphy. I’m a big Peaky Blinders fan. So, you know, I just think Cillian would fit right in.”
“Colin Farrell is fantastic. Charlize Theron when she did Atomic Blonde, I saw that went, ‘Oh my God, I gotta work with this woman. She’s awesome. I worked with Michelle Yeoh way back on a commercial years ago, and I’ve been dying to work with her ever since. I’m such a huge fan.”
Stahelski expressed his admiration for a variety of genre icons, including Jurnee Smollett from Birds of Prey and several others. He emphasized the abundance of talented individuals and even mentioned that if someone like Robert Downey Jr. were to take a seat in his chair, he would eagerly seize the opportunity. Additionally, he expressed his deep admiration for actors like Peter Dinklage, known for his role in Game of Thrones, and Sean Bean, whom he considers truly magical, expressing his willingness to work with any of these remarkable talents.
Lionsgate is currently in active production on two exciting spin-offs from the John Wick franchise. One of them is Ballerina, which features Ana de Armas in the leading role. The other is The Continental, a captivating event series scheduled for a late-year release.
Is John Wick 5 Happening Anytime Soon?
Although John Wick 5 is not currently confirmed, there was a time when it seemed not only likely but was also scheduled to be filmed back-to-back with John Wick: Chapter 4. In August 2020, Lionsgate’s CEO John Feltheimer shared during an earnings call (as reported by Deadline) that the studio had initiated early preparations for both the fourth and fifth installments of the franchise.
This choice was made a little over a year after the third installment had taken center stage as a summer blockbuster sensation in 2019. It’s evident that the initial plan to shoot both films consecutively didn’t come to fruition, leading to a period of uncertainty regarding the future of John Wick 5 for fans.
John Wick: Chapter 4 will start streaming on Starz starting September 15.
