The Golden Trio from Harry Potter, played by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, have been the best of friends ever since they met on the first movie set. Debuting as child actors, in what turned out to be one of the world’s biggest franchises, they grew up on the sets together, shooting for one movie after another.

Although they have spoken on numerous counts about the impact the movies had in their lives, both positive and negative, it is evident they had a lot of fun together. However, as the primary audience of the movies also grew up with them, it evidently led to many fan-favorite pairs or ships. One was obviously of Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe and Hermione Granger actor Emma Watson.

Coincidentally, there were also rumors of Radcliffe and Watson dating back then. Speaking on this, in the recent Harry Potter reunion, they claimed that they thought those rumors were nothing but ridiculous. Recalling their days back on the sets of Harry Potter, they noted that not only did they not date each other, but they actually used to act as each other’s dating coaches in between the scenes.

Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson’s Harry Potter days

The Harry Potter reunion shed light on a lot of aspects of the movies and the actors’ lives that were previously unknown. For example, Emma Watson claimed that being one of the only original casts, her experience was a bit different from the others as a young girl, especially as she did not have anyone to share those experiences with. She also noted her content with how her co-stars have grown so much over the years.

She elaborated, “Similarly for Dan, it really touched me how reflective he had been over the years about how different it had been for me as a girl.” Although the three remain best friends even years after the conclusion of the movies, they also noted that they do not really WhatsApp often as none of them are particularly fond of cellphones and the constant technology invasion.

Watson also explained that she and Radcliffe share a special bond as they, “generally try and calm each other’s nerves,” before any major events of their lives. As both are extremely private individuals and not too fond of their infamy, this is not really a surprise.

Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson are like siblings

Speaking on the notorious fanship, both explained that they kind of found it ridiculous as they happen to share almost a sibling-like relationship. Watson noted that their bond is like an “older brother, younger sister thing.” This became evident as they spoke more about how they helped each other through the vicious teenage dating years. Radcliffe recalled, “The amount of prep and coaching Emma and I would give each other on texting to the opposite sex,” really helped them navigate through those years.

This is understandable, as all of them hit puberty on the sets of Harry Potter. They also revealed that they used to bicker a lot back then. In fact, according to them, one time during the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire shooting, they didn’t talk for days. Daniel Radcliffe explained,

“I remember one of the big arguments we had on the fourth film – we didn’t speak to each other for a couple of days – was about… She was arguing about the Latin language, that nobody knows what it sounds like, what a Latin accent should be. And I was like, ‘Yeah, but it’s still spoken a lot in the Catholic church.”

As a result, any dating between them would have been strange. Daniel Radcliffe confirmed,

“We know it’d be everything the fans ever wanted. I’m sorry guys, it’s not happening. It’s just not. There’s something really incestuous about the idea of it.”

However, although this fanship might never have happened, fans still learned a lot more about their favorite actors’ days on the set, something they seem very happy about.

In some old set footage released during the reunion, the pair could be seen partaking in height and even racing competitions. This made fans extremely happy, especially now that rumors of The Cursed Child being adapted are floating around everywhere. As a result, fans are extremely hopeful to see The Golden Trio once again coming to life on the big screens.
