Fans are Unhappy with Mila Kunis’ Casting in Daniel Craig’s Knives Out 3

Rian Johnson‘s Knives Out 3 has already been announced with Deadline revealing that the Black Swan star Mila Kunis is the new cast in line to join Daniel Craig in Netflix’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.

For the unversed, Kunis has been in the acting industry since a young age. After rising to prominence as Jackie Burkhart on the popular television sitcom That ’70s Show (1998-2006), she gained wider fame for her voice work in The Family Guy.

Apart from her work in the television industry, she got notable roles on the big screen with some of her works including Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008), Friends With Benefits (2011), Ted (2012), and The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018) among others.

Given her credits on her portfolio, her addition to the franchise would have added charm to the project but the truth is otherwise. Due to the actress’ last year’s comments of supporting convicted r*pist Danny Masterson, many are expressing their disappointment on the unjust casting.

Fans are furious that the actress, who supported a convicted personality in the past, has been hired to work on the upcoming project. The actress has issued a video apology for taking her stance to support Masterson last year.

Kunis found herself engulfed in trouble when she along with her husband, Ashton Kutcher sent letters to a judge following Danny Masterson’s r*pe conviction, via BBC. Her That ’70s Show co-star who played Steven Hyde on the sitcom, was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison on two counts of r*pe in 2003.

The duo sent letters to Judge Charlaine Olmedo before his sentencing, which went viral after independent journalist Tony Ortega obtained them. Their insensitive decision led to a major backlash from the public, leading them to make an apology video.

In the apology video, the 40-year-old actress stated that the letters “were intended for the judge to read and not to undermine the testimony of the victims or retraumatize them in any way. We would never want to do that and we’re sorry if that has taken place.”

Whereas, Kutcher reflected that the convicted actor’s family approached the couple, asking them to write character letters. Kunis added,

We support victims. We have done this historically through our work and will continue to do so in the future…Our heart goes out to every single person who’s ever been a victim of s*xual assault, s*xual abuse or r*pe.

While it remains a mystery whether the franchise would agree to fans’ demands to replace the actor, the star-studded cast for Knives Out 3 also includes Josh O’Connor, Kerry Washington, Jeremy Renner, Glen Close, Cailee Spaeny, and Andrew Scott. Whereas, Craig is set to reprise his role of renowned detective Benoit Blanc with Rian Johnson back in the director’s chair.
