!! SPOILERS: This article contains spoilers for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania !!
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is receiving mixed reviews from Marvel fans and critics alike. From the artificial-looking CGI to the wafer-thin plot, viewers are complaining about multiple things in the film. But there’s one aspect of the movie that many especially despised- the lack of any emotional weight in the plot. There’s a lack of consequences in the film since at the end, all the characters come out alive in the aftermath of their confrontation with a powerful being like Kang. But there’s speculation that this will get fixed in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man To Die In Avengers: Kang Dynasty?
When the trailer of Ant-Man 3 was released, there was rampant speculation online. Many fans assumed that the movie will mark the end of Paul Rudd’s tenure as Scott Lang in the MCU. However, that didn’t happen in the film, exasperating many and baffling others. But insider reports allege that Scott Lang, Hank Pym, and Janet Van Dyne will bid goodbye in another film.
Alex, a writer from The Cosmic Circus, responded to a tweet saying that Kang should have killed Janet, Hank, or Scott. He alleged that at least one of them will meet their end in Avengers: Kang Dynasty. The MCU fandom has been buzzing since this tweet, with speculations running rampant on which character will die in the upcoming Avengers movie.

Many think that Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne are the likeliest candidates since they aren’t relevant to the plot of any other future MCU film. However, others are of the view that killing Scott Lang, the protagonist of the Ant-Man films will create a bigger emotional impact akin to the deaths of Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff in Avengers: Endgame.
Also, with Scott Lang’s death, his legacy will be carried on by his daughter, Cassie Lang. Thus, all of it will make for an amazing emotional centerpiece to the entire event. However, will this really happen? After all, a Marvel Studios executive has confirmed that talks on Ant-Man 4 are happening.

Ant-Man 4 In The Works At Marvel Studios
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Marvel Studios executive Stephen Broussard confirmed that talks about Ant-Man 4 have begun. He said:
“We’re already thinking about it. It’s like, every movie’s its own battle and you bear the scars of making it and wanting to make it great. But hope springs eternal and you start to put yourself back together after the journey of making the movie…I don’t want to say anything about specifically what those are, but yeah, you can’t help yourself. Those conversations, those whispers have already started to happen between myself and Peyton and Kevin.”

What kind of film will Ant-Man 4 be? Star Paul Rudd has some ideas. He wants to go back to the low-stake adventures Scott Lang’s previous films were about. In an interview with Yahoo UK, Rudd said:
“I can’t imagine where you [would go]. How do you get bigger? And where do you go from here? I think about it, it’s like this regular guy who has no innate super ability whatsoever has now gone head-to-head with Thanos and Kang. I just feel like, cut the guy a break. Just let him sit on a beach somewhere. How much abuse can he take? How much punishment?”
If Ant-Man 4 happens, it will probably take place after Avengers: Kang Dynasty. So what about the allegations about Scott, Hank, or Janet’s deaths? It remains to be seen if the next Ant-Man movie ever comes to fruition.
Avengers: Kang Dynasty to release on 2 May 2025.
