Thank god none of the actors from The Boys are exactly like their characters, but the creator Eric Kripke decided to sprinkle some real-life traits into their roles. Nathan Mitchell, who plays Black Noir, has the most amusing one.
Antony Starr, who plays Homelander, recently shared a funny tidbit about what Mitchell does between takes, he sneaks in power naps! Interestingly, it’s not just between takes, but sometimes even when the cameras are rolling.
Here is Why Nathan Mitchell is Most Like His Character Black Noir in The Boys
During a recent Happy Sad Confused live session at the 92nd Street Y with host Josh Horowitz, the cast of The Boys, one of TV’s hottest shows, gathered to chat about their experiences. They also dished out some hilarious tidbits.
In a segment playing “Most Likely To,” when asked who’s most likely to complain about their suit, the focus shifted amusingly to Nathan Mitchell, who plays Black Noir. His costume, with no skin showing, gives him the perfect disguise, so perfect, in fact, that he sometimes nods off in it, even during filming takes, as Antony Starr hilariously explained,
Come on, Nathan complains on an hourly basis. He legit falls asleep. There’s a line in there where he’s not asleep, and he wakes up and goes, “I’m narcoleptic” he’s f–ing in real life! He’s fallen asleep at the table in that suit. In real life, Nathan is almost narcoleptic.
There’s even evidence of it in the show! Erin Moriarty spilled the hilarious behind-the-scenes story while speaking at New York Comic Con 2021 (via CBR) with the rest of the cast,
I will say, there’s a moment in Season 3, this gives away no spoilers,–Where all of a sudden I tap the person sitting to my left, and Nathan, who plays Noir, is sitting in front of me and I just see his head going [slowly nodding back and forth] while the camera is rolling. So, there’s a moment in Season 3 and you see Noir’s head just going suddenly [nodding head slowly back and forth]. He’s asleep. Fully, 100-percent asleep, caught on camera.
And truth be told, it’s sort of every actor’s ultimate dream to doze off while shooting in costume and still stay in character to deliver a fantastic performance. Mitchell is living that dream, quite literally!
Fans Found Antony Starr’s Revelation Amazingly Amusing
Fans were totally caught off guard by this tidbit and went wild when they heard it. Now they’re deep into an investigation, combing through Black Noir scenes, trying to figure out if he’s actually snoozing and waking up mid-scene. But that’s not the only quirky weakness Eric Kripke added to the show. Drawing inspiration from Superman’s vulnerability to kryptonite and actor Nathan Mitchell’s real-life tree nut allergy, Kripke introduced Black Noir’s nut allergy as well.
Black Noir from The Boys is the ultimate mystery wrapped in a ninja suit. To explain what the super is exactly like, one might say, he is Batman mixed with Deadpool, but quieter. He is the total package!
Fans are having an absolute field day with this information. Here’s how they reacted,
They are writing all his weaknesses into the show 😭😂
