We all know Marvel Studios’ affinity for jokes and how much they enjoy humor. Although accidental or intentional, Tom Holland had a very tough time because of Marvel Studios after he had given the audition for the role of Spider-Man.

Well, it wasn’t easy for Holland to survive six weeks without knowing his future, but due to the studios, Holland had to endure the terrible six weeks. After auditioning for Spider-Man, Holland revealed that he hadn’t heard from the studio for six weeks!

Tom Holland Didn’t Hear From Marvel Studios For Six Weeks!

In 2015, Tom Holland had the opportunity to star alongside MCU star Chris Hemsworth in the 2015 film In the Heart of the Sea. With Ron Howard as the director and based on the non-fictional book about the sinking of the American whaling ship called Essexthe film received mixed reviews, but Holland surely made it into the spotlight with this film.

After some months, the actor revealed that he had always been interested in portraying the character of Spider-Man. Producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal were already impressed by Holland’s acting skills in his previous films while directors Joe and Anthony Russo felt that Holland’s gymnastic and dancing career could help the character of Spider-Man a lot.

Well, Tom Holland auditioned for the role of Spider-Man alongside 1500 teenagers from around the world. What’s harrowing is that despite the actor being selected for the role, Holland wasn’t informed about the decision (via X)!

After my final audition, they said, ‘You’ll find out tomorrow.’ Fast forward six weeks I was still waiting, then one day Marvel just posted it on their Instagram … They didn’t call me up or anything.

And that is how the world (and Tom Holland) came to know that he was the new Spider-Man in the MCU. The actor first donned the costume for the 2016 film Captain America: Civil War, following which he starred in the Spider-Man trilogy from 2017 to 2021.

Despite the fame and love from all over the world, the iconic actor recently got candid about his experience in Hollywood. While talking about his humble beginnings, Holland revealed that it was all just a simple fluke.

Tom Holland Feels That His Hollywood Career Is Just A Fluke!

Starring alongside Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts in a 2012 film titled The Impossible, Tom Holland’s first impression of working on a film was quite beautiful. However, the story of how Holland got the chance to star in that film is quite… coincidental.

Like many stars, the Avengers: Endgame actor also feels that his Hollywood career started on the basis of a simple fluke. On the On Purpose Podcast hosted by Jay Shetty, the actor revealed that an agent had come to “see the show [Billy Elliot the Musical]” and by pure luck, the agent saw Holland.

Just by complete fluke, an agent came to see the show [Billy Elliot the Musical], the night I was on, she signed me, she sent me to an audition for a film, I was lucky enough to get the part.

He further continued,

All of a sudden I was on set with Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts, and we made The Impossible… So I never really wanted this. I just sort of never stopped doing it and I love it.

The rest, as we say, is history. Holland would go on to star alongside Chris Hemsworth in In the Heart of the Sea and in 2016 would be donning the role of Spider-Man in the MCU.

Although there can be no evidence for this, there are rumors that Holland is slated to return to the role of Spider-Man in the MCU with three upcoming projects around the character. However, no confirmed reports have been made available.
