Dwayne Johnson maintains his name in news one way or the other, especially after the release of his “passion project” Black Adam which failed to impress the audience. Ever since its release, Black Adam created a lot of buzz for its cameo of Henry Cavill as Superman. Yet the movie failed to perform well at the box office regardless of his huge budget and association with world-famous star, Dwayne Johnson. Now that Black Adam has aided in the already drowning DCU, the movie is now being called out for its zero association with the upcoming DCU movie of Shazam!

James Gunn whose arrival has completely reshuffled the entire DCU from the removal of Henry Cavill’s role as Superman. Gunn’s recent announcements about the upcoming DC referred to as “the first chapter of storytelling” do not include Johnson’s Black Adam, meaning no projects concerning Black Adam will be produced in the coming recent years, sending Black Adam to a good break. In a lengthy tweet, the San Andreas star shared the news confirming the hiatus of Black Adam.

“I wanted to give you a long-awaited Black Adam update regarding the character’s future in the new DC Universe. James Gunn and I connected, and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling. However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters.

James and I have known each other for years and have always rooted for each other to succeed. It’s no different now, and I will always root for DC (and Marvel) to win and WIN BIG. You guys know me, and I have very thick skin – and you can always count on me to be direct with my words. These decisions made by James and DC leadership represent their vision of DCU through their creative lens.”

Will Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam and Zachary Levi’s Shazam Confront Each Other?

Looking at the storyline of comic books one can find multiple direct encounters between Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam and Zachary Levi’s Shazam. The second movie of Shazam! titled Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ release date was set just after a few months after Black Adam’s release, fans were hoping to see some connection between Black Adam and Shazam. As reported Dwayne Johnson’s DC character was to be introduced in Shazam! as an anti-hero, but the Baywatch star insisted on a solo movie that will cover the character’s background in the hope to bring life to the dying DC Universe, which surely failed horribly.

Though Shazam! Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg, in an interview, stated that the encounter of Black Adam and Shazam will neither happen in Black Adam nor in Shazam! Fury of the Gods. But the characters will eventually confront each other if Black Adam 2 or Shazam! 3 ever happened. Still, fans are disappointed as they believe the story of both the DCU stars could have become much better if only they had an actual encounter by now.
