The whole situation reveals a different side to Hollywood, the drama behind the scenes. It’s like looking behind the curtain and seeing that things aren’t generally as they appear.

Ryan Gosling And Rachel McAdams Didn’t Get Along While Working Together

Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams didn’t precisely get along on the set of The Notebook. Directed by Nick Cassavetes, this 2004 romance flick won hearts worldwide.

The 43-year-old and McAdams played Noah and Allie, a couple whose love story spans decades. But, here’s the twist: Gosling initially didn’t think McAdams was ideal for the part.

In a 2014 meeting with VH1, Cassavetes spilled the beans on their rough relationship. He revealed that Gosling requested a different actress to peruse lines with him because he couldn’t stand working with McAdams.

Picture this: 150 people on set, and Gosling pulls the director to the side, saying, “I can’t. I can’t do it with her. I’m just not getting anything from this.”

Things got heated with a yelling match between the two stars. Cassavetes disclosed,

“We went into a room with a producer; they started screaming and yelling at each other. I walked out. At that point, I was smoking cigarettes. I smoked a cigarette and everybody came out like, ‘All right let’s do this.’ And it got better after that. They had it out…”

However, despite their off-screen drama, Gosling and McAdams had undeniable chemistry on screen. But what happened behind the scenes was a different story that shed light on the complex details of Hollywood elements.

Interestingly, the tension didn’t last long. Gosling and McAdams started dating after the film’s release, proving that sometimes, love blossoms in unexpected places.

Ryan Gosling And Rachel McAdams Switched Up Their Views On Each Other

Gosling and McAdams, who didn’t exactly see eye-to-eye back in the day, appear to have figured things out. The director of The Notebook revealed during filming that they used to argue quite a bit.

Cassavetes even needed to step in and make them figure it out before they could continue filming. But, according to Eonline, after they worked through their differences, things got a bit easier. Fast forward to a while after filming wrapped up, and guess what?

Gosling and McAdams found each other in New York and their entire dynamic had changed. Gosling revealed,

“I don’t know what happened. Two years later, I saw her in New York, and we started getting the idea that maybe we were wrong about each other.”

McAdams chimed in as well, saying how surprising their later relationship was. She said,

“[Our later relationship] certainly wasn’t something that either of us had expected would come out of that filmmaking experience…You can engineer chemistry on-screen just by telling the audience that these two people love each other…as an actor, you don’t have to feel it. You don’t have to feel anything. Just imagine it.”

However, here’s the kicker: even after they split up, they’re actually cool with one another. Yes, it appears like their perspectives on one another have completely changed, perhaps indicating that they now understand and value one another more.
