In 2013, Alec Baldwin made the revelation to Howard Stern on his show that he was offered the role of a Marvel villain. During the interview, Stern asked if he was ever offered a supervillain role, to which Baldwin responded that Marvel had approached him for a role, which he had to eventually decline.

Baldwin was not ready to reveal which role or what film it was, stating that he did not want to undo what somebody had delivered in the role. His exact wordings were “Marvel Comics movies” which made fans wonder whether it was in the MCU or other Marvel-related properties. Baldwin shared with Howard Stern (via Cinemablend):

I have, but I won’t mention which one. I don’t want to undo somebody because they hired someone else to do it. But they asked me to play a villain in one of these Marvel Comics movies.

Baldwin further clarified in the interview that he was not available for the role. Baldwin shared that the studio wanted him to come at a time when his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, was pregnant. He also added that he had to turn down two films that he actually wanted to do during this time. The Boss Baby actor shared:

I wasn’t available, they wanted me to work a certain time. And because of my wife’s pregnancy, I had to turn down two films this summer that I wanted to do.

According to THR, his wife was six months pregnant during the time of the interview, hinting that he missed a Marvel film that was in production in 2013. It would have been a great opportunity for the actor as he stepped down from his role as Jack Donaghy in 30 Rock after eight years in that year.

Only two MCU movies were in production in the time frame that Alec Baldwin mentions in his interview—Chris EvansCaptain America: The Winter Soldier and Chris Pratt’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Various publications speculate that he could’ve easily portrayed Robert Redford’s Alexander Pierce role or Benicio del Toro’s Taneleer Tivan/Collector (via THR).

Others also speculate the minute possibility that he was considered for a role in Thor: The Dark World. If the actor is talking about Marvel movies in general instead of MCU, he could’ve been either part of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 or X-Men: Days of Future Past. The best guess for a villain role in these two movies would be that of Paul Giamatti‘s Rhino, which is not exactly a major role.

In other news, the involuntary manslaughter charge against the Blind star was recently dismissed (via The New York Times). Baldwin also recently made headlines for tapping the reality show on TLC, titled The Baldwins (via PEOPLE).
