“They were grateful that I’d said what I said”: After Mads Mikkelsen’s Support, J.K. Rowling Blasts Harry Potter Fans for Criticizing Her for Incendiary Trans Rights Comments

British author J.K. Rowling has been under fire for making controversial comments about the trans community. While Rowling believed that she was voicing her opinion to the world, it resulted in massive backlash for the author. People around the world, including Harry Potter stars and fans, have called her out for her transphobic comments and targeting of the LGBTQ community.

J.K. Rowling also claimed that it was not a fun journey for her as she feared for herself and her family due to the massive backlash following her comments about the transgender community. However, she still stands by her views, as she stated,

“Time will tell whether I’ve got this wrong. I can only say that I’ve thought about it deeply and hard and long, and I’ve listened.”

The Troubled Blood author also shared that she even went against her management team and told them that they could not “argue [her] out of this.” She also recalled the tweet that started the whole controversy. Rowling shared that she was “angry” and “flippant” after she came around an article “on the background of what I see as huge injustice and people trying to shut women down.”

Rowling also shared that she did not want to upset anyone with her comments and only wanted to put out a required warning for people. She also stated that she sees the whole thing as a “powerful, insidious, misogynistic movement” that has reached very influential areas of society.
