"They're all quite good": Tom Hanks Reveals if He Would Ever Join the MCU After Applauding $29B Franchise Unlike His Peers

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been expanding further and further with every day that passes. Tom Hanks, a Hollywood veteran, is one of the few left to join the MCU in their quest to get all the best actors on board their movies and series.

In a podcast, the Saving Private Ryan actor talked about whether he would like to join the MCU or not. Surprisingly, he went against his dear friends Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese when he stated that the MCU movies were “quite good”.

Tom Hanks Praises The MCU For Being Good!

The veteran actor has received several awards and accolades throughout the years of his Hollywood career. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a knack for starring award-winning celebrities in their movies and series, such as Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale, and more. The upsetting thing to witness is that the MCU has yet to approach Tom Hanks for a role!

While talking about it to Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Hanks stated that although he hasn’t seen the entirety of the MCU, whatever he has seen is indeed “quite good”. The actor emphasized the variety of themes presented throughout the movies and had nothing but praise for the actors and the creators of the MCU for being so brilliant.

“The ones I’ve seen, I’ve never come away from it without thinking there’s a couple of great performances in there, man. Those people really gave their all. […] And then after that … did they examine the theme that I wanted them to be seeing? And I think, I can tell you all of them are quite good, Josh, they’re all quite good.”

He further stated,

“In order to get into kind of like a universe or something — let’s take John Ford’s Westerns, right? You can maybe say that is the John Ford Universe of Westerns. It’s not that different, perhaps, than you know, the Marvel Universe of motion pictures. If it’s a bodacious John Ford Western, would you do it?”

Tom Hanks (being Tom Hanks) did not clarify whether he sees himself in the MCU or not. Although the actor has praised the MCU, it could very well be a possibility that he might just make it into the universe. The statements, however positive, were surprising to hear from Tom Hanks. Hanks’ friends Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese had quite different perspectives on the MCU, compared to what the Forrest Gump actor feels.

It was just mere months ago that veteran and notable directors like Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese were very vocal against the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tarantino blamed the MCU for making superheroes famous and not the actors, while Scorsese did not even consider the movies as cinema!

Having their own reasons for doing so, both directors teamed up against the MCU as two sides emerged in a war between “cinema” and the MCU. But among these voices, Tom Hanks stood his ground to state that the MCU movies are indeed “quite good”. Hanks is currently attached to an upcoming project titled Here. With several notable actors in the mix, Here is currently in the production stage of development, with no release date attached.
