At this point, Bloodborne fans are so starved that a low-resolution PSN avatar would get the fanbase buzzing. FromSoftware’s gothic horror love letter to Lovecraft was released nearly nine years ago, and we haven’t heard anything regarding it since.

This isn’t to say Sony has entirely forgotten the franchise. Far from it, Bloodborne is still highly referenced within the company’s first-party titles, and it seems the company is now toying with fans of the franchise with their latest easter egg in ASTRO’s PLAYROOM!

Our first adventure with ASTRO was a fun tech demo created to show off the technical capabilities of the PlayStation 5. Each level or ‘world’ is based on some aspect of the PlayStation 5’s build, such as the SSD Speedway and Memory Meadow.

Throughout the experience, players would run into other little robots having a merry time. Many little bots resembled iconic PlayStation characters from their most popular franchises. The expected ones, such as Kratos, Nathan Drake, Aloy, Joel and Ellie, are present, but we also had some more classic references.

One of them was the infamous rodent, Sly Cooper. Fans of the franchise will be happy to know the first game, Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, will be available on the PlayStation Store on June 11. Another throwback to the cult classic franchise was Bloodborne. Found in the GPU Jungle stage after the first checkpoint, players would come across a bot wearing the classic Hunter’s garb while wielding a Saw Cleaver and Hunter’s Pistol.

The game was released in 2020, so no one was expecting some major new updates to the title, but one fan has found something that could indicate Sony has something planned for Bloodborne.

We see a bot dressed as Lady Maria from the Old Hunters‘ DLC trapped within a glass cage. Freeing her also nets the player the ‘Hunted Down’ trophy. Another user has hinted that this can’t be a coincidence, leading the original poster to agree.

ASTRO’s next adventure will bring even more easter eggs!

This is not the first time Sony has referenced the title as of late. The upcoming ASTRO BOT references the FromSoftware game by dressing the little bot in a more accurate Hunter’s Garb. With the Shadow of the Erdtree release drawing closer, FromSoftware fan theories are at an all-time high, and Bloodborne is at the top of the list!

The sequel to ASTRO’s PLAYROOM will feature several references to other Sony first-party titles. Along with the Hunter’s attire, people have spotted references to Uncharted, and others are hoping to see characters such as Sackboy from LittleBigPlanet.

While ASTRO BOT is awaited by many who enjoyed the first game, the price might be something that drives a lot of fans away. At $60, people will think twice, but the good news is that there will be no microtransactions within the game!
