Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, dropped another teaser on Tuesday, which may have some new information for fans. During a scene in the teaser, Deadpool takes a dig at Disney bringing back Jackman’s character and shares that they’re going to make him do it until he’s 90. Fans believe that the studio may have plans for the actor in future films as well, including the planned live-action X-Men film.

The new teaser for Deadpool & Wolverine includes another Disney/Marvel joke from Ryan Reynolds. During a scene in the teaser, the two lead characters crash-land on a minivan in a parking lot. When a kid recognizes Hugh Jackman‘s X-Men character and exclaims, “That’s Wolverine!”, Reynolds has a perfectly hilarious response.

In his usual sarcastic tone, Deadpool replies, “Damn straight it is! Disney brought him back and they’re going to make him do this until he’s 90!” Fans believe that this joke may have an underlying meaning that the studio is not done with Wolverine yet.

The X-Men characters are about to have a much bigger role in the MCU and the main character from the first X-Men live-action movie making an MCU debut is no minor feat for the studio. They will likely double down on the character, but there’s one major challenge as Deadpool points out. Jackman started playing the character 24 years ago and the actor is currently 55.

Jackman had a very long run with the character at Fox and he eventually announced his retirement after Logan. He may have intended his return to the role in the upcoming Marvel film to be a one-time thing. However, Disney/Marvel usually brings stars into their universe for multiple projects.

All major stars in the MCU have starred in more than one film, with Robert Downey Jr. appearing in a total of 10 films over the course of eleven years (via ScreenRant). Chris Evans appeared in 10 films, while Scarlett Johansson appeared in 9 films. All these actors have spent at least a decade in the role, which could mean a lot for Jackman who’s only on his first MCU film.

While Deadpool’s joke is not to be taken verbatim (of course, Marvel is not going to make him do the role until he turns 90), it is possible that Jackman may be hired for a few more projects over the next few years. Jackman wishes the joke doesn’t come true as he has already opened up about the physical exhaustion of playing the role.

The Deadpool & Wolverine Teaser Reveals More Of Lady Deadpool

Besides the several Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman interaction scenes, the teaser also went ahead and revealed a little more of Lady Deadpool. It wasn’t enough to positively make an ID on the actress playing the character, but fans have some theories. For one, the teaser revealed that Lady Deadpool has blonde hair.

Fans believe that it could be Blake Lively, Reynolds’ wife, playing the role. It is a more plausible theory than the other one making rounds on the internet. Another set of fans still believe it to be Taylor Swift, despite EW confirming that Swift is not in the film. They’re not ready to give up on their dream of the Cruel Summer singer making her Marvel debut.

Fans will get to know the answers soon as Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26, 2024.
