The Boys became an instant hit for Amazon when it first debuted in 2019. With the success of the series, now entering its fourth season, it expanded into a franchise, producing spinoffs like The Boys: Diabolical and Gen V. According to the latest reports, another spinoff, The Boys: Mexico, is currently in development at Amazon, with Blue Beetle writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer serving as a creator. Fans are divided on the news about a new spinoff.
Andor fame Diego Luna and Werewolf by Night fame Gael García Bernal are set to serve as the executive producers and will also take on roles in the series. It will also follow the interesting premise of corrupt superheroes in The Boys, which was based on the comics of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
Fans Not Sure About Another The Boys Spinoff
According to Deadline, The Boys: Mexico is currently on the hunt for a co-showrunner along with Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, who is working on the script. The series will be shot entirely in Mexico, and the casting process will commence shortly. When @CultureCrave reported the news, fans were quick to react with some raising valid concerns while others expressing their anticipation.

While the expansion of The Boys universe has been successful so far, fans feel that the creators might be losing focus on the original series. They think that the series is turning out to be exactly what it’s making fun of. One valid concern was the current state of the MCU, which focused on fast expansion and shared universes, instead of producing quality outputs.
However, others are optimistic that the Antony Starr-led franchise has never disappointed until now and will continue its winning streak. Some noted that they thought Gen V was an unnecessary project, but the spinoff series turned out to be surprisingly good. Other fans also expressed that they completely trust the team, the writer, as well as executive producers Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal.
They’re going to ruin the franchise like Disney ruined Marvel.
Just. Focus. On. Quality.
We don’t need more shared universes. What we need is more good stories.

Vought Industries really trying to run this thing into the ground aren’t they?

I thought Gen V was going to be unnecessary and bad and I ended up liking it, so looking forward to this!

If they’re exec producers then I’m seated, 100%. They’ll make sure they do a good job.

The Boys: Mexico will involve the magical hands that created the original series, though not at full capacity. The series will be produced by Eric Kripke‘s Kripke Enterprises, Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg’s Point Grey Pictures, Original Film, Sony Pictures Television, and Amazon MGM Studios.
The Boys: Mexico Is Coming From A Strong Team
The new series will be a redemption for Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, who didn’t get the deserved recognition for Blue Beetle at the theaters. Dunnet-Alcocer’s latest work included Sony’s El Muerto. The screenwriter is the most recent name attached to the Scarface reboot, which has been in development for a long time.
American audiences are familiar with Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal’s individual works, however, the two veteran actors are frequent collaborators in Spanish-language features. Their first collaboration was the hit film, Y Tu Mamá También directed by Alfonso Cuarón. The two actors became producing partners in 2018 with their production banner, La Corriente del Golfo.
Fans currently await Season 4 of The Boys, while Gen V has been renewed for a second season. Both series are now available for streaming on Prime Video.
