Just when all hope seemed lost for the MCU (going a little over the top in true Deadpool fashion) Marvel Studios might have found the perfect succour to Superhero fatigue in Deadpool & Wolverine. The film, which will witness the return of fan favorites Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, has garnered a lot of interest amongst fans around the world. After all, it isn’t every day that you get to see another glimpse of arguably one of the most loved X-Men of this generation. And if this Deadpool joke is anything to go by, they’re not done yet.
Deadpool & Wolverine provides the perfect chance to set up the X-Men
The multiverse is about to witness the explosion in the host of characters that form a part of the MCU roster. While Kang, who is all set to be the next big villain, is one such introduction, the multiverse has opened up another golden portal for the MCU – one that will allow them to bring in loved characters from across different universes.
With Hank McCoy making an appearance in the post-credits scene of The Marvels, it is anybody’s guess that the X-Men are all set to make their appearance in the MCU. And what better way to kick off their adventure than bringing in the likes of Deadpool and Wolverine – two characters that are still largely loved by fans.
Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine has excited fans around the block
The trick has paid off. Ever since the idea of Deadpool & Wolverine was first announced, fans were all in for the movie. Their introduction in the MCU not only means that we’ll get to witness many iconic team-ups, but it also means that we’ll have a chance to witness Wolverine back in action.
Following the release of Logan back in 2017, many thought that The Prestige star’s days as Wolverine were done and dusted. For an entire generation, seeing the Australian in action was a core memory, one they would have to sadly part with. But Kevin Feige & Co’s call to give The Greatest Showman star another run has come as really good news to Marvel fans.
Deadpool makes bold prediction on Hugh Jackman’s MCU future that might be a little true
True to how Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool has been over the years, how could he miss an opportunity to joke about Jackman? In the latest clip of the movie, Deadpool and Wolverine can be seen going about their business, jumping from universe to universe. In the course of their adventures, they stumble across a child who immediately recognizes Wolverine.
Not missing his chance, Deadpool said,
“You’re damn straight it is. Disney brought him back. They’re gonna make him do this til’ he’s 90.”

While the statement might have been a joke, Jackman has been Wolverine for 24 years now, beginning with X-Men in 2000. He might only be 55 at the moment. But spending more than 2 decades playing one character isn’t an easy task by any means. And the introduction of the X-Men means that we’re only going to see more of him. He might not work for Marvel till he gets into his 90s, but who can say?
