Out of all the Disney princess stories ever written and produced into animated movies for the big screen, Snow White is one of the most loved and biggest fan-favorite of all time. But it seems that none of the real-life remakes of the fair-as-snow princess has put even a candle to the original story, judging from fans’ reactions to them, especially on the upcoming Rachel Zegler starrer movie.

And now it seems that the criticism won’t get any lighter for the most recent real-life version film of the princess either as even the original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs movie director’s son, too, slams Disney for insulting the princess’s story and making it radical against the public opinion instead of honoring it.

The original live-action version of Snow White came back in 1937, and animator David Dodd Hand was one of the main directors of the movie. And from the outstanding responses it received from the audience, it was nothing less than a masterpiece. So when the director’s son, David Hale Hand found out about the ‘radical’ remake of the superhit movie, he was obviously outraged.

With the animator father long gone to review the remake now, his designer son reviewed the movie in his place.

“It’s a whole different concept and I just totally disagree with it, and I know my dad and Walt would also very much disagree with it,” Hand said.

The younger Hand furthermore called the upcoming Shazam 2 actress’s film ‘a disgrace’ to the original movie. He said,

“[It’s a] disgrace [that Disney is] trying to do something new with something that was such a great success earlier. … Their thoughts are just so radical now. They change the stories, they change the thought process of the characters, … they’re making up new woke things and I’m just not into any of that. I find it quite frankly a bit insulting [what] they may have done with some of these classic films. … There’s no respect for what Disney did and what my dad did. … I think Walt and he would be turning in their graves.”

But Dodd Hand’s son wasn’t the only critic to slam the movie brutally – several other fans too stepped up to openly criticize the movie for its radical approach toward the original masterpiece script, saying that criticizing Disney princesses is ‘not feminist’, referring the Zegler’s controversial comment on the movie last year.

Rachel Zegler Caused A Stir Following Her Controversial Comment On The Original Disney Classic

Rachel Zegler, who would be portraying the gentle and kind Snow White in the upcoming movie, faced a lot of backlash on her comment on the original movie. She said,

“The original is extremely dated when it comes to the ideas of women being in roles of power and what a woman is fit for in the world. It came out in 1937, and very evidently so. There’s a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird. So we didn’t do that this time.”

Judging from her comment, it’s more than enough to infuriate the late Snow White animator’s son. What’s more, is that the new remake of the movie will be nothing like the 1937 version, as per Zegler.

“She’s not going to be dreaming about true love,” Rachel Zegler revealed. “She’s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be and the leader that her late father told her that she could be if she was fearless, fair, brave, and true. People are making these jokes about ours being the PC Snow White, where it’s like, yeah, it is — because it needed that.”

While the revelations about the new movie along with its cast’s comments on it have made the movie nothing short of a controversial remake in the eyes of fans, Disney will just have to wait and see how its new ‘radical’ remake is received in theatres.
