Six years ago, almost to the day, the world was shaken to its core. Hot off its universe breaking entry Captain America: Winter Solider, the MCU had something else up its sleeve. A team up movie, with characters the average moviegoer had never even heard of. Guardians of the Galaxy brought a fresh, new life to the MCU in a way nobody could have imagined. Bold, psychedelic colors, a booming old-school soundtrack and the infinite possibilities of space. Now, with Volume 3 coming (hopefully) by 2022, we’ve got a whole lot to look forward to. Here are just a few of the things we want to see in the next Guardians!

Rocket’s Backstory

10 Things We Want To See In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

With our Guardians showing up in 4 MCU movies to date, it is a little upsetting we still don’t know much about our furry little rabbit friend (Asgardian for raccoon), Rocket. There’s a lot to uncover, his creation, his re-creation, and most importantly, how he and Groot became the best pals in the galaxy! With Avengers: Endgame showing us a deeper, more caring Rocket, it would be nice to go back to the ruthless raccoon from before the films began his story.

More Howard the Duck

We know he exists in this universe, but what exactly can he do? Surely to be a future fan favorite, Howard can bring a different level of comedic relief to the mix with his quips and cavalier attitude. So far only showing up in cameos and end credit scenes, the sky’s the limit for what Howard the Duck can bring to the table.

Our New Big Bad

Although Thanos first appeared during the end credit scene for the first Avengers film, his presence was a strong force in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film. Considering the MCU has a whole lot more ground to cover, some bigger and scarier forces could be coming out of the woodwork to face our heroes. Even if it’s a small role, introducing or instilling the evil of our new Big Bad would be a great way to move the long running narrative forward.

Asgardians of the Galaxy

Post Ragnarok, Thor AND our intergalactic misfits sharing the screen together for a whole movie?? With the finale of Endgame bringing these two forces together, whatever comes out of it will be legendary. Need I say more?

Multigenerational Soundtrack

The first two volumes of Guardians showed just what a good soundtrack can do to move a story forward, or show intense emotions when needed. Both films were still held back because of their method of music, which is no longer a problem. Now equipped with the ever popular music playing device Zune, our good old Guardians have a near infinite library of music to listen to on their journey. Maybe we can get Baby Groot back for some more dancing too? One can only dream.

Adam Warlock

Being teased as far back as Vol. 2, we have yet to see anything else in the MCU to prove his existence. Being on of the strongest Marvel characters out there, there is much to anticipate with his arrival in the MCU, with anything he wants possible. Quite possibly a step forward in the greater continuity, Adam Warlock could be a key character in the future of the MCU.

The Grandmaster

Ragnarok brought a colorful, fun character in The Grandmaster. Jeff Goldblum is adored by many, both on Sakaar and our puny earth. Either a full arc or just a tiny cameo, I’m sure his appearance in Vol. 3 would be a welcome addition to the party.

Dope Space Tech

Both Guardians films showcased new and intriguing technology and weapons, and we’re sure to expect some new shiny toys for our heroes to play with the third time around. Being set in the endless density of space, anything can be made up or redone to show us earthlings just how bad we have it stuck down here.

Monsters and Aliens

Being as most of the moviegoing public had no idea who the Guardians were just 6 years ago, there are countless other characters that have yet to show up on the sliver screen. Vol. 3 could be an easy way to bring to light some lesser known aliens, or even unused popular comic aliens. Space can hold possibly trillions of different life forms, and we’ve just scratched the surface.

We’ve got to face it, the mightiest heroes are still on earth, boo yah! Now that everyone’s been nice and acquainted, it’s time to hear jokes or stories about Earths defenders. Or, you know what, some have been to space now. Let’s hope Star Lord has one or two of them on speed dial.
