Akira Toriyama Shares His Thoughts About The New Generation Of Mangakas

Akira Toriyama, in an interview published alongside Takehiko Inoue, the creator of Slam Dunk and Vagabond, revealed how he felt about new authors taking influence from old works like his own, and creating something of their own.

Talking about the same, he remarked-

“While the quality of the work itself is increasing, individuality and pride in one’s work are decreasing. I’d like to run across a manga that makes me think, ‘this author must be nuts!'”

Toriyama expressed how it is great that new authors take inspiration from their favorite mangakas. However, at the same time, these authors should have some pride in their work and include some originality.
