Michael Chaves promised intensified terror and violence in The Nun 2

While the character of The Nun aka Valak was introduced in Conjuring 2, it was the 2018 movie The Nun that provided audiences a glimpse into the story of Valak. Set in a chillingly haunting Romanian monastery, the movie though not a critical favorite, provided fans with a deeper insight into the malevolence and terror of the Demon Nun.

And now, Michael Chaves has warned fans that the upcoming sequel explores the narrative with much more frightening scenes and brutality. In an exclusive conversation with SFX Magazine, Chaves shared,

“I think that this does get darker. Even audiences have said this, when we screened it. It is definitely more violent than what they expected from a Conjuring movie.”

However, this does not mean that the filmmaker has resorted to some mindless jump-scare tactics to scare the viewers. In fact, during the conversation, Chaves admitted that there is a delicate balance that needs to be kept in check while making horror movies.

“It’s always a delicate balance. It’s definitely scary, it’s 100% delivered on that. Just as horror audiences have developed the appetite for horror, the appetite for violence has started to increase, and so there are some violent elements in this.”
