Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther made his MCU debut in the studio’s 2016 movie Captain America: Civil War and he left an astounding impression that later led to his solo feature Black Panther in 2018.

Boseman, as revealed by his Civil War co-star Sebastian Stan was something else. Seeing Boseman on set fully committed to the role was really inspiring. Of course, both actors had to engage in an intense battle onscreen. But Stan predicted Boseman’s intensity long before fans got to see his action on screen.

Sebastian Stan played Bucky Barnes a.k.a. Winter Soldier who got into an intense battle with Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War. Winter Soldier was brainwashed and framed for the assassination of T’Chaka, Black Panther’s father. For Stan, his Avengers co-star, Boseman’s T’Challa was interesting but more interesting was the actor fully committed to the role.“I was like, ‘Oh my God, this guy’s going to blow everyone away,” Stan predicted about Boseman (via MCU: The Reign Of Marvel Studios).
“There was such commitment and dedication to everything he was doing. We had a lot of these fight sequences, and we really went for it. I was like, ‘He’s really showing up. I got to stand tall, too.’”
Boseman’s Black Panther debut in MCU was marvelous, there is no doubt about that. His performance in the movie helped him to procure a solo movie solely based on the character.

While speaking with Vanity Fair’s Little Gold Men Podcast, Stan revealed that he was terrified of going into the action scenes with Boseman. However, “afterwards we would just do these little fist bumps, like, ‘Cool, we’re good.’” The actors got to spend more time together during press tours and they have gotten even closer. “Then after we shot, I spent some time, a little bit, when we would tease each other on these press tours and we would be laughing,” Stan said in the podcast.
“It was really cool. And I just, in my head, I’d always hoped that there was just going to be more. So it’s just crazy to even wrap my mind around the idea of being in any world without him there. I just can’t even imagine it really in my mind. But obviously, I always felt like, in my little scene at the end of Black Panther, I was always like, “Ah, I’m part of the war. I’m part of that movie.” I felt so good—that little scene.”
Boseman’s demise in 2020 was shocking for all. He was diagnosed with colon cancer but kept it private until his death. He was a rising star and received a nomination in 2021 in the Best Actor category for his performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
