Jackie Chan’s Warcraft Shakes Hollywood
Jackie Chan, during a film festival, had given a speech that had him explaining as to how the impact of Chinese movies can change the course of how movies are perceived and dominated by Hollywood. The massive success of Warcraft was enough to shake an already-developed film industry.
“‘Warcraft’ made[$91 million] in two days — this has scared the Americans.”
Warcraft made a whopping $91 Million in just two days after it was released in China alone. This was so impactful for the industry because of how easily it could match many popular Hollywood films. He focused on how the earnings could very well shake the United States of America because how it is unusual to see other industries make as much. Moreover, the movie was released in twenty other countries before it was released in the United States of America.
Jackie Chan Wants To See Film Students Learn Chinese
Warcraft made a total of $439 Million worldwide which may not be a lot in a manner of speaking, but it is enough to make a mark in industries outside of Hollywood and even more within. Jackie Chan added about how if there was a Chinese movie that could make over $1.5 Billion worldwide, then many things could change.
“If we can make a film that earns [$1.5 billion], then people from all over the world who study film will learn Chinese, instead of us learning English.”
By this change, he referred to how things would be much different if aspiring actors from Hollywood were reaching out to the Chinese film industry rather than the other way around. He even stated how things could be different with regard to actors wanting to learn Chinese instead of English.
