While there is no way to figure out if this plot is legitimate or not, fans on the internet are quite taken by the story, calling it a great introduction to the world of DC superheroes. Not only is the plot relatively simple, and introduces a slew of characters in the DCU, but it also seems to be quite the commentary on the current landscape of the genre, something that seems oddly at home in a Superman film.

Taking a page from Kingdom Come, the alleged plot of Superman, will see Kal-El be a pariah among his peers, owing to the fact that the character does not kill, unlike other heroes of the DCU. The story is set around Superman solving problems around the world, especially a conflict that Lex Luthor is profiting from, which causes the US Government taking down Superman using a hero on their pay-roll: Ultraman.

While the plot is simply floating around online, with no confirmation if this is the case, fans seem to have taken to the plot and are praising its components as a great start to the DCU.

The plot of the story seems to focus on Superman inspiring the world to be better, whether it be heroes or civilians. It needs to be noted that this plot does not come from any official source, and the film might follow a completely different storyline.

After the less-than-stellar performance of the DCEU thanks to corporate meddling beyond what the franchise merited and extremely troubled productions for some of its most high-budget films, the rebooted DCU is important for WB.

Failing to capitalize on its superhero properties during the height of the MCU left DC fans frustrated, given that the franchise had the potential to go neck to neck with its main rival, and perhaps even exceed its level.

Now, not only does the DCU find itself in a space where it can start from scratch, but it has also decided to release its first film at a time when the MCU is on its back foot, creating enough space in the superhero blockbuster niche for DC to capitalize on it.

Of course, it cannot be denied that the Man of Steel will be facing off against Marvel’s First Family at the box office, but James Gunn‘s Superman has the makings of a great superhero film, that could perhaps return DC to form, and set the course ahead for the entire franchise, that could knock MCU down a peg, if not off the top spot.
