One Hundred Years of Solitude just released its trailer and the classic novel seems to have impressed an entirely new audience with its excellent story. While the hype around the show is fairly new, the book has been regarded as one of the most excellent literary works of all time.
Gabriel García Márquez’s magnificent mind is to blame for this classic that withstood the test of time and has maintained its relevance for almost 60 years since its publishing. During this time, the novel has continued to hypnotize people from all walks of life, including those who reside inside the gates of Hollywood.
Before Netflix released the trailer, the popular culture icon, Dua Lipa revealed it to be one of her favorite books of all time. She went into great detail about why she thinks so in a post.
Dua Lipa Fell In Love With One Hundred Years of Solitude
In a post by Service95 on Instagram, Dua Lipa revealed One Hundred Years of Solitude to have been the book she could not put down in 2023. Starting by saying that the book was incredible, she revealed that she felt as though the book put a spell on her.
“This incredible novel put me under a spell. I was captivated by the fantastical elements that live alongside reality and loved how time loops and sways in the fictional town of Macondo.” revealed Lipa in the post.
She talked about how she felt immersed in the story, finding herself in the town of Macondo, where the story mainly takes place. Hypnotized by the storytelling and the contents of the book, itself, the novel seemed to have had a huge impact on her.
Lost In Gabriel García Márquez’s Writing Made Dua Lipa Find Herself
The story of Gabriel García Márquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude is quite intricate, following many different characters in different times. It would seem that this factor of the story would often make it difficult for Dua Lipa to keep up. She would get lost in the specifics and the names, however, she would eventually find her way back to the beautiful story.
“True, at times I had to find my way through the many Aurelianos and José Arcadios that populate the seven generations of the Buendía family. But getting lost and succumbing to the mastery of Gabriel García Márquez’s storytelling is all part of the joy of this epic tale. Along the way, I found myself reflecting on love and war, familial bonds, the consequences of modernity and of course, the many meanings of solitude. It’s irresistible” said the pop icon.
She described getting lost in the words to be synonymous with succumbing to Márquez’s genius form of storytelling. By the end of it, she seemed to have taken a lot from the book, which is impossible to avoid. She pondered on heavy topics like war and love, human connection, and morality. Focusing on the title, questions about the concept of solitude were inevitable for her.
It is safe to assume that the series that Netflix is releasing has to meet very high expectations, trying to recreate a masterpiece in every definition of the word.
