Dwayne Johnson and Logan Paul had an incredible friendship that was tested by time. The duo reportedly met in 2016 before the height of the YouTuber’s fame. They had several collaborations where the Jumanji star has been seen on Paul’s various vlogs.
Unfortunately, the pair had severed ties after Paul’s video about the s**cide forest in Japan went viral. Since then, The Rock wanted to do nothing with him anymore. Still, their first encounter was a sight to behold.
Logan Paul And Dwayne Johnson Were Once Great Friends
In his 2016 YouTube video, Logan Paul captured the moment he finally met Rampage actor Dwayne Johnson. The duo was seemingly happy to see each other and they both had a great time talking in front of the camera. Paul said:
“Big collab with someone who I admire and have the utmost respect for.”
The influencer even recalled in a podcast how he was shaking the first time he saw his idol. He told The Kris Fade Show:
“I don’t get starstruck. I do not. And when I was standing next to ‘The Rock’ for the first time, I was shaking like a little girl. He’s my idol. He’s the one guy who I actually resonate with in Hollywood. He’s a trailblazer. I like to consider myself a trailblazer as well.”
But, it seems that The Rock was even more surprised to see how colossal Paul is. Johnson said in Paul’s YouTube video:
“I need to take this opportunity right now to tell everybody out there. So now that you see us sat side by side, this is a big dude. He’s a big motherf*cker.”
The pair had further conversations until they wrapped up the video. They made more collaborations in 2017, and even started referring to each other as “brother” and “bro.” Sadly, this friendship has come to an end.
Dwayne Johnson Cut Ties With Logan Paul After Controversial Video
Dwayne Johnson and Logan Paul’s friendship came crashing down after the YouTuber’s viral Japan video made buzz on the Internet. This resulted in Johnson’s assistant calling and asking him to take down every photo and video they made together. He mentioned via the True Geordie podcast:
“After Japan happened, obviously I found myself in a hole, rightfully so, that I had never been in before, extremely low mentally, and I got a call from my publicist, who also repped Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, and she’s like, ‘Hey, Dwayne has asked that you remove every picture and video that you’ve done with him. Maybe, in the future, the relationship can be reconciled, but for now, he basically wants nothing to do with you,’ which I also understood.”
Paul remarked that he knew he made a grave mistake, though he wished he had gotten a call or text from Johnson himself because he understood they had an open communication.
The influencer lamented how he lost the trust of his hero. They have never made any collaborations since then. Paul revealed that Johnson once tried to reach out to him, but he did not reply to his message, though he still thinks the Baywatch actor is “awesome.”
