Batman: Caped Crusader revealed its first look online, and fans are already hyped for the show. Sort of like a reverse Batman Beyond, the show takes the Bat of Gotham back in time, beginning his story in the 1940s. There are no phones, no computers, and no fancy gadgets. Batman even sports a suit that is closer to his earlier incarnation. Fans are very impressed by what they see, and cannot wait for the show to start airing:

Given that the story is set in the 1940s, the show has taken a lot of inspiration from the media of the time. Be it films or comics, every character that is set to appear in the show has gotten a revamp that is more accurate to the period that the show is going to depict. According to Bruce Timm, speaking with EW:

“James and I are both really big fans of movies from that era, so we decided to really lean into that in terms of the clothes, the cars, the architecture, and the level of technology. Early on, we decided there would be no computers and no cell phones. That changed everything.”

The show is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on 1st August 2024, which would serve as the second high-profile animated series that has come to the service this year, following behind Invincible. 2024, in general, has been a great year for animated superhero shows, with Invincible and X-Men ’97 receiving rave reviews, while shows like My Adventures with Superman and Batman: Caped Crusader receive immense praise from fans ahead of their release.
