After years of playing Superman, fans lost their minds when Henry Cavill tried his hand at playing Wolverine in the recently released, Deadpool & Wolverine. While there are several reasons why fans have been fawning over the film, one of the biggest has to be the casting of the Man of Steel actor. For years, viewers have been pointing out that Cavill would be an excellent choice for Logan, which became even louder when he was fried from DC.

Finally being able to see their vision come true has sparked something great in the viewers, who cannot help but be happy at the recognition that he is getting. At the same time, it is almost odd to see someone else play the role of the beloved Wolverine.

However, it would seem that he didn’t start the swap war with Hugh Jackman, as the actor wore the Superman suit, long before Cavill did.

Is It a Bird? Is It a Plane? It’s Hugh Jackman!

Whenever fans think of Superman, the person that they often associate with the Kryptonian is Henry Cavill. As the eras change, so does this face. However, many would be surprised to know that Hugh Jackman also put on the suit at one point in his career, but not in the way one would think. During the release of the first X-Men film, the actor took part in a number of interviews. One of the better and more memorable interviews happened to be the time he hosted Saturday Night Live (via Geekwatch). The performance was especially praised by critics, and the actor helped establish himself as more than just a rugged performer.

The change in public perception from being known as Logan to a truly funny actor was thanks to the skit that he took part in, playing the role of Superman. The skit took place in 2001, more than ten years before Cavill took on the role.

The irony that Jackman played the role of Superman long before the actor who is known for the role only adds to the destiny that they both ended up with. While Jackman’s role as Superman may never come to fruition, Cavill’s Wolverine dreams still have a chance.

Henry Cavill’s Wolverine Becomes a Dream Come True

When the rumors about Henry Cavill playing Wolverine started coming around, fans speculated almost immediately that the chances of him playing Patch were more than likely. However, things didn’t pan out as previously expected. Although, their hopes weren’t let down for too long.

Many had been hoping to see him at least for a second, and Deadpool and Wolverine made it happen. The ‘Cavillrine,’ as Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool put it, had every fan screaming in the theater. With his hair styled in the classic comic book way and a cigar hanging from his mouth. When Deadpool began to freak out, much like everyone else, he armed himself with his adamantium claws in a very unique fashion.

It is safe to say that both Cavill and Jackman did an excellent job as each other’s iconic characters, and their performances will go down in history.
