Dakota Johnson and Andrew Garfield are both known for iconic roles in different franchises in their Hollywood career. Before Johnson joined Fifty Shades of Grey and Garfield joined The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, both actors worked together in a 2010 film.
Under the supervision of veteran director David Fincher, Dakota Johnson and Andrew Garfield worked in the 2010 film The Social Network. Reuniting years later, the duo talked about their fame and Andrew Garfield may have asked a personal question about Dakota Johnson.
When Andrew Garfield Reunited With Dakota Johnson
Working on the 2010 movie, Garfield and Johnson had not yet found worldwide fame. Although they did not have any screen time together, the two interacted on the sets of The Social Network. After the release of the movie, Dakota Johnson went off to star in Fifty Shades of Grey while Andrew Garfield portrayed the role of Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man.
Years later when they both received worldwide fame for their roles, the duo reunited in an interview with Vanity Fair to chat. During the interview, Garfield had quite an interesting question to ask Dakota Johnson, and being an iconic actress, Johnson had her answer at the ready.
“No, but you do in your own way with the film [Fifty Shades of Grey] with Jamie [Dornan], because it’s the same thing in terms of feeling available to the world and especially with what you were going through with that film because it is so metaphorically naked.”
Andrew Garfield further continued,
“This is maybe a more personal question, but how do you have such good boundaries in your life and with an audience in order to carry on being naked on screen, whether it’s literal or otherwise? I know it’s something that I think about all the time to keep myself sacred, to keep my life sacred so that I can feel free to go and carry on giving myself to my work.”
As for Johnson’s answer, the actress simply stated that she avoids the places where she cannot be a private person.
“Well, it takes a lot to be private now, like so much effort every day. You don’t do certain things or go certain places.”
Although Garfield was one of the best Spider-Men out there, Marvel President Kevin Feige did not seem to like his performance!
Kevin Feige Did Not Like Andrew Garfield’s Performance
With Garfield portraying the role of Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, the world acknowledged the actor when he reprised his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Well, the President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, revealed that he did not like Garfield’s performance at all (via MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios).
“We’re distracted by the idea that Peter became Spider-Man because of his father’s blood—all this special back story with his super-scientist dad fights with the idea that Peter is a normal kid from Queens who becomes the greatest superhero in the world.”
Whatever the case may be, Andrew Garfield is indeed one of the greatest Spider-Man portrayals out there. With an iconic franchise to his name, the actor is currently busy with 4 upcoming projects to his name.
